- qualified edinburgh 2004 and am now working in Blackpool as a vet. I've started walking to work some days in an effort to rectify the fitness problem which Sky TV has lured me into (watch that anyone considering giving into their latest advertising scheme). I share my house with 2 cats whos main concern seems to be wrecking most of my stuff when I'm out! At the moment I mostly want a Wii, but they are like hens teeth to get hold of and many people exploit that fact on ebay - rude!

St Andrews Day!
30th November is St Andrews day. The patron saint of Scotland was first recognised in 1320 at the signing of the declaration of arbroath with the scottish nobles, including Robert the Bruce, asserting scotlands independance from England. Interestingly Romania, Greece and Russia share St Andrew as a Patron Saint, and Scotland is one of only a few countries to have one of christ's desciples as a patron saint.
Legend has it that the ship carrying the bones of St Andrew to Scotland to be laid to rest was wrecked off the fife coast, and landed at a spot which later became St Andrews town. A cathedral was built which later bacame an important site of pilgrimage for christians. The ruins of this cathedral can still be seen in the town today.
