A MODERN day Robin Hood swiped 200 paid-for wedding dresses from a shop which went bust — and gave them to their owners.
The mystery hero wrote to a local newspaper, saying: “The fat cats haven’t won this time.”

Glasgow’s Capri Skies bridal store was set to have its assets, including the dresses, seized after it went to the wall because of the recession.

And police launched a probe yesterday after the gowns went missing and the do-gooder told the paper how “insiders” managed to get him into the shop. The letter went on: “I got out as many dresses as I could and delivered them to brides all over Scotland.

“Nobody knows who I am, but I like to think that I have done the owner of the shop and all the brides a favour by reuniting dresses with their true owners. The fat cats haven’t won this time.” Last night the mother of one bride- to-be who got her dress praised their benefactor.

She said: “My daughter was delighted the dress arrived on time. Getting it back saved the day, and we can’t thank the man enough. I’m glad someone went in and got the dresses out when they did.”

Action
A Strathclyde Police spokesperson said yesterday morning that officers were investigating the incident.

But when contacted later, a spokesman said after some inquiries had been made they had decided no further action would be taken.

The spokesman said the matter was now one for the authorities overseeing the closure of the business.
