Late T in the Park entry
Okay so Thursday night is maybe a bit late to do a T in the Park entry but I have been sleeping rather a lot . . .
There were a few of us camping together so we set up a little village of individual tents with the big tent in the middle. It was a bigger group than recent years which was nice.
We arrived at about 10-11am and got straight into the campsite and pitched up in light rain. As soon as we had set up camp there was a downpour so we hid in the big tent for a bit before venturing out to the main arena.
Friday, well, Lily Allen would not have been my first choice (unless I had a shotgun) so we wondered about for a bit then went into the mosh pit for the Coral so that was all good. I was chuffed to see them singing Dreaming of You since I managed to miss that in 2003.
Come Saturday the sun came out to play a bit so that was a bonus. Saw more bands than I can be bothered to remember but the highlights were definitely My Chemical Romance and Brian Wilson. Yes that's right, faced with the tough choice of headliners - The Killers, The View, The Enemy, The Kooks and Brian Wilson - I chose Brian Wilson and he rocked, definitely a new entry in Rachel's T in the Park top 5!
Sunday I managed to see nearly every band on the main stage *spits on Kings of Leon* but chose to wander round rather than watch whole sets. We were all rather sore on the Sunday, Victoria was cursing her wellies now the sun had gone and Simon was turning pink. Dave managed to get some whinging in and Johnny was as politely non-whingey as ever.
I left Queens of the Stone Age (don't hate me, it was in a tent and I couldn't see anything cuz I'm short) and wandered on my own for a bit, watched some Snow Patrol and some Kasabian, then the fireworks, then went to meet the QotSA harcore fans. Back to the campsite for beers and a visit round the campsite arena then 'home' to the tents.
One of the best T's ever it must be said, though aren't they all

Deos anyone else actually listen to XFM?!?
As those of you who have been paying attention may have noticed I recently won tickets to see The Red Hot Chili Peppers in London from XFM, then tickets to Winter Wonderland in Glasgow also from XFM. Well, last Thursday I won tickets to see Keane play an intimate gig at Edinburgh Liquid Rooms (there were only a few hundred people there) and guess where I won them . . . drum roll . . . XFM!
For this competition the tickets went to the first person to text in with the correct spelling of the word teuchter, so really how could I lose? It was the last set of tickets and the first time I had entered
Annoyingly enough I won 4 tickets and could only find 2 people to accompany me so one went to waste
Anyway, I took Simon and Eleanor and it was really good. Though we didn't get drunk on this occasion since it cost nearly a tenner for a round
and anyway it was a school night.
The place was really packed, it was pretty much impossible to move around the club.
The support band were called The Rumble Strips, they were quite good, kinda like a modern day Dexy's Midnight Runners.
By the time Keane came on we had found ourselves a nice spot right at the side of the stage, we could literally see the whites of their eyes (see photos).
It was a great gig, it was the final night of their tour and they really seemed to be getting into it. I suppose when you are used to playing to thousands of fans it must be kind of cool to do such a small gig where you can see the audience as individuals rather than a sea of faces. They belted out their classics and the crowd went wild (me included, singing loudly and badly as per usual).
Anyway, Maximo Park will be playing an exclusive XFM gig at the end of the month, I wonder if I should enter to win those or should I let someone else have a chance . . .

Happy New Year!!!
Happy New year to all!
Last night was Hogmanay (or as those who knows me are forced to call it, "Rachel's birthday").
Me n Dave went over to Erin's, where Stewart and David also were. We all drank a fair amount and me n Erin spent a lot of time applying more and more glitter.
We went out to a club (Subway on the Cowgate - grrr hisss) at the back of 11pm. On the way up the road Erin spotted a taxi and we caught it - the 'men' were too far ahead to hear us shouting that we had caught a taxi. Me n Erin got to the club at about 11.30pm and Erin went off to buy drinks. Since the club was about 10-15 minutes away from where we left the men we thought they would be there for the bells no problem.
By 11.55pm there was no sign of the men and Erin had not returned with drinks so I started panicking. The bells went off and still nobody was there, so I stood on my own looking forlorn. After some tall intimidating guy tried to dance with me I broke free and went off to find Erin.
After finding Erin and expressing my concern that we had lost our men I called Dave, who told me he had been standing outside the club for the best part of half an hour (they stopped letting people in) and was mighty pissed off and said they were going back to Simon's. Then the club started letting more people in so I ran out to tell the men.
I grabbed my coat from the cloakroom and headed outside. They were nowhere to be seen.
I walked back to Simon's and no one was there. Just as all hope seemed lost they appeared. But . . . they were all fed up and pissed off and did not want to go back to the club. So, I did what any girl would do in such a situation and broke into tears.
Eventually, after saying I would pay for a taxi, they agreed to come back. When we got the club lo and behold they would not let them in (only people with hand stamps). Since I had a hand stamp I went in to get Erin.
I found Erin, foreceably dragged her from the dancefloor and took her to the corridor outside the toilets to tell her I had come to fetch her cuz they couldn't get in. She was unimpressed by this and did not want to leave. After swearing at the bouncer (he totally deserved it he was very rude about us standing in the corridor rather than politely asking us to move on) I left (approximately 3 seconds before being thrown out) and was told I would not be allowed back in ("Don't let that one back in," "What, the little one?", "Yes" . . . little one indeed grrrrrr!!!)
So, by 2pm we were all pissed off to the max and all they wanted to do was go home. But I forced them to go to Opium, which is the club next door (I paid half their entrance fees I was that desparate to save the night) and thank god it totally rocked. They played Guns'n'Roses and those that know me will know that made me very happy. I moshed and danced like a twat and the night was saved!
Oh and Erin made it home safe having spent the entire night in a club on her own, I don't know if she had fun since she apparently can't remember anything

Jen Stalker Was Longmuirhace 43 semanasHi Rachel, was speaking to mum tonight saying I need to look out that big hoop underskirt for you, she's gonna take it up with her in march, was just thinking you'll be needing it soon for alterations etc.
Might have to get it out in next couple of weeks, as one of my friends is just starting out as a photographer and wants me to put my dress on so she can do a shoot at Pitlochry Theatre for her website.
Any excuse to put it on again and I'm there
OL
Hope plans all going well, we're about to be very busy with brother in law's wedding which is first sat in april.
Let me know if there's anything else you need that I might have xxx

Hiya,
Wedding in June, good good i will do my best to come cause im not a crap friend

Will the Aden park gang be there, we could make it a double celebration and have a reuinion at the same time, but no sneaking about with bottles of Diamond White and your dad chasing us down the road wanting to look in our bags (clink clink)
Oh the good old days.
I will have to see if i can scan the pics from Aden and send them to you, they are a real laugh.
It would be great to come down to Edinburgh need to see when Gavin is home to look after kids till i can arrange anything.
I havnt see K cider for sale in a long time, think we drank it all
Id better stop now or ill take up your entire comments page.
Enjoy your car boot sale
