- The Red Hot Chili Peppers was formed by lead singer Anthony Kiedis in the early 80s. Singer Anthony and Bass player Flea (Michael Balzary) were at the same school and they formed the RHCP. Their original Guitar player Hillel Slovak was found dead in 1988 caused by a heroin overdose. The drummer Jack irons left the band after Slovak died. Replacing Irons was Chad Smith who is one of the greatest drummers of all time, then John Fruciante also one of the greatest replaced Slovak. The Chili Peppers were back and performing great music until John Fruciante had become addicited to drugs leading to him resigning for a period before returning clean from drugs and playing at his best. Anthony also had a more severe addiction to drugs but in 2000 became clean from rehab. This left four great musicians and the RHCP went on from 1991 despite several problems to be one of the greatest bands ever with hits like Under the Bridge, Blood Sugar Sex Magik, Give it away, By the way and Dani California.
