- The band was formed in 1968 by guitarist Jimmy Page but it was called "the New Yardbirds" in order to fulfill some performance commitments booked before the break up of the original Yardbirds. Robert Plant was the singer. After those concerts were done the band changed it's name to Led Zeppelin because Keith Moon, drummer of The Who, said they would "go over like a lead balloon". When Led Zeppelin 1 came out on January 12,1969, it only took two months for it to become a great success. The album jumped to the top of the charts and Led Zeppelin, with their heavy, free-form, psychedelic style of rock and mystic lyrics, began their ascent to god-like status. They were one of the most influential and popular rock bands of the 1970s.

led zeppelin are amazing and there stuff has a huge reange of effects and difficulties, epsecially on guitar, i can play whole lota love, conunication breakdown, kashmir, stairway to heaven, bon' y 'aur, bon' y' aur stomp poor tom, and gallows pole, all of them are either reall easy or hard as hell.

I was playing some of my favourite Led Zep songs on my guitar and I was going through the tuning jimmy used so DROP D tuning was used for ten Years gone and moby dick. Open G was used for that's the way, bron yr stomp dancing days, when the levee breaks black coutnry woman DADGAD tuning was used for black mountain side Kashmir and white summer. Double Drop D tuning for going to california. Open G sus 4 for The rain Song. C6 tuning for Bron Yr Ur ,Friends and hats of to ROy Harperand Open A was used for In mY time of Dying if anyone knows of any more could you please send me a comment
