- Me, Myself, and I
- Hey,
I'm Brian,
I currently live in Adra in the south of Spain with my girlfriend Clare in a lovely wee flat next to the beach. Born n Breed in the Port!
I am employed at the mortgage centre in Greenock but have a 6 month career break at the moment until May (which is too soon now). I've applied to go to college when I get back so I can get into Uni.
Other than that my life is made up of mostly the following stuff, i may have missed some bits but you'll get the drift......
clare + family + music + gigs + love for celtic + weed + friends + ps3 + documentaries +
a dislike for snobby, pompous or arrogant people + interests in history, languages, science & technology, movies, comedy + a yearning to travel (which I'm doing just now) +
a hatred for beauraucracy + a strong love for scotland, scottish patriotism and just whatever it is that runs in our blood that seems to make us so proud
I can't ask for more from life.
- Music
- like most folk into music i enjoy a mix, but i wouldn't say i like "a bit of everything".
my all-timers are, well, i need to start with mr. marley & floyd.
for nostalgia: ocean colour scene, semisonic, gomez, beatles, sublime, skatalites... Also, i enjoy most folk originated music, whether it be scottish & irish folk music to buena vista social club & african earth music, any folk music. my love is music, even though i don't play. anyways, am gonna leave it there for music, i don't wanna hurt my head thinking too much on something probably not many people will read. - Film genres
- foreign language films (so much better than hollywood films, if you have the patience for subtitles): I'm really starting to get into Hispanic films, especially ones directed by Pedro Almodovar.. they're estupendo! I also enjoy really satirical comedies & documentaries, aswell as genuine documentaries too. I like these 'Visions of the Future' programmes and such where scientists just take stabs at the dark as to what we'll be doing shortly or whatever. They're funny, but really thought provoking too. I dunno what else, I like films that give a sense of one world, one people, one love and so on. that's enough on films.
- Football Team
- Celtic and obviously Scotland.
- Race
- Until the philosophy which holds one race superior and another inferior is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned, everywhere is war and until there are no longer first-class and second-class citizens of any nation, until the color of a man's skin is of no more significance than the color of his eyes. And until the basic human rights are equally guaranteed to all without regard to race, there is war. And until that day, the dream of lasting peace, world citizenship, rule of international morality, will remain but a fleeting illusion to be pursued, but never attained... now everywhere is war.
- Happiest When
- - Partying from Friday to Thursday, that's pretty good.
- Seeing new places & meeting new people
- Learning new languages
-Things are being done for me. So much less effort needed on my part.
-You arrive on holiday, just after you've unpacked.
-Next to a full volume amp rockin out.
-Lying with my girl, preferably on a hot day out in the sun, but anytime really. - Things to do before I'm 30
- Visit Jamaica, Thailand, India, China, Russia & Mali, and pretty much anywhere at all. I want to see everywhere I can. Become fluent in Castellano, which I'm working on a la momento. Parachute jump. White water rafting. Go to Coachella festival in Palm Springs, Sonar festival in Barca (2009) & Lowlands festival in Holland (hopefully also 2009). Go to the Irn-Bru factory (just cause). Stand on an active (but safe) volcano, see the Pyramids at Giza and Macchu Picchu in the Amazon. I would like to go to Antarctica, but I have arthritis so I reckon I'm probably pretty f*cked on that one. Ride an elephant, as in on it's back, I know what some of you thought there. Go see the Alhambra (now done, twice) Possibly go to uni (college applied for) Stay mortgage free.
and last but definetely not least, hopefully, if the opportunity arises, Vote independence for Scotland. - Things I would like to see before I die
- a rasta to become president of the states and a gay catholic to become prime minister of england, scotland separate from england.
Seriously though, one thing I really would like to see would be people, all races, creeds and whatever else we want to use to describe ourselves as being different people to be dropped and to realise that the majority of us all are pretty sound and really have a lot in common. I have a dream!.. and so on.
I would also like to see full scottish independence, provided it could be affordable, at least for the time it takes what I said above to happen re dropping creeds, titles etc and uniting. Is that idealisitic do you think? I hope not.

An Ode to Smeato
'Twas doon by the inch o' Abbots
Oor Johnny walked one day
When he saw a sight that troubled him
Far more than he could say
A fanatic muslim bastard
Wiz doin what he'd planned
And intae Glesga airport
A cherokee he rammed
A big Glaswegian polis
Came forward tae assist
He thocht "a wummen driver"
Or at least someone half-pissed
But to his shock nae drunken jock
Emerged to grasp his hand
But a fuckin Arab loony
Frae Al Qaeda's band
The mad Islamist nut-case
Had set hissel' on fire
And swung oot at the polis
GBH his clear desire
Hoaw! at's no right wur Johnny cried
And sallied tae the fray
A left hook and heid butt
Required tae save the day
Now listen up Bin Laden
Yir sort's nae wanted here
For imported English radicals
Us Scoatsmen huv nae fear
Oor hame grown Glesga Asians
Will have nae bloody truck
So take yer worldwide jihad
