- SpongeBob is a porous yellow sponge with large blue eyes, a mouth with prominent front buck teeth, dimples and freckles. He is also, at times, shown to have hair. He typically wears a white shirt with a red tie and brown square trousers--hence his family name--and black leather shoes. When he works at the Krusty Krab, he wears a hat with an anchor on it as a uniform. He replaces the necktie with a chokie bowtie for special events. He sleeps in pajamas or in underwear, with shoes, or barefoot in various episodes, in the movie he sleeps wearing socks.
Presumably Spongebob lives below the poverty level; Mr. Krabs, his employer, is notorious for working his dichotomous staff long hours for next-to-nothing pay. As his singular source of income appears to be his job at the Krusty Krab, how he funds his day-to-day living remains a mystery.
SpongeBob is a sea sponge, but he is drawn to resemble a kitchen sponge. Due to his soft, pliable frame, he is capable of shape shifting and has shown a degree of super "human" durability. He is sometimes shown to have a skeleton, but he is mainly portrayed as soft and boneless.

Squidward Is An Octopus
Squidward is an octopus but as this states he indeed only has 6 tentacles.
"Don't be fooled by the name - Squidward is not a squid. He's an octopus. The squid/octopus debate amongst fans was finally settled by Spongebob creator Steven Hillenburg (on the "Sleepy Time" episode commentary on the series DVD "Tide and Seek") when he stated that Squidward was indeed an octopus (as suggested by his appearance), and even hypothesised that the fact that Squidward has only six appendages rather than eight was "...probably why he's angry." "
to be honest even though the creater stated this in dvd commentary it makes no sense, yes he looks more like an octopus but he only has 6 tentacles and if you remember his mom only has 6 as well and what about Squilliam and they contridict this in the show on a few occasions such as Mr. Krabs saying We will send our delivery Squid and saying after Squidward had been turned into a milkshake6 commentaires 524 jours
