- The start of 2009 sees The Red Labels back in the studio recording four new tracks for their much awaited yet untitled EP. New track "In My Head" is already a fan favorite having been showcased at the band's appearances at Oxegen, CastlePalooza and Solas festivals in 2008. Last year saw the lads clocking up close to one hundred shows and brought about the release of their debut single “Fire”, support slots with One Night Only and General Fiasco as well as sold out headline shows in some of Ireland's most renowned venues. Described as "Quality indie guitar music!" by the Irish Independent, The Red Labels also managed to squeeze in two nights in London appearing at the Camden Barfly as well as winning The King Kong Club battle of the bands. This time around sees the boys back in Sun Studios with acclaimed producer Guy Massey (Radiohead/Manic Street Preachers) to record their latest five track release which will include previous singles "Fire" and live favorite "You Know". With the release of their debut EP in March and a UK tour scheduled for April, 2009 looks set to be a very big year for The Red Labels.

THE SILENCE BREAKS - 3RD APRIL 2009 , IMRO SHOWCASE TOUR - 1ST APRIL 2009
Hi guys,
Hope your all well, just a very quick one to let you know what's going on in camp Labels at the moment.
We are delighted to announce that we have been asked to play this years IMRO SHOWCASE TOUR. The IMRO Showcase Tour is the longest running event of it’s kind in Ireland.
Over it’s 18-year tenure the tour has facilitated a live platform for numerous break-through Irish artists . It provides bands with the opportunity to connect with a wider audience and gives music fans and industry the chance to see the very best in emerging Irish talent.
We will be playing Andrews Lane Theatre on Wed 1st April as part of the Dublin leg of the tour. We have a limited number of guest list places available for this gig. Please email names and details to us if you would like to attend and we will stick you down on the list.
Now for some more very important news...
After much tooing and frowing, humming and hawing our debut EP will be called "The Silence Breaks". It will be released in Ireland on 3rd April 2009 and will feature five previously unreleased tracks. The running order will look like this:
1) Swallow
2) Fire
3) Ticker Tape Parade
4) You Know
5) In My Head
To coincide with the release we are having a launch party on Friday 3rd April in PRAVDA, one of our favourite venues in Dublin. We would like to invite each and every one of you down to it. Its been a long road to get to this point, it seems like years ago we went into the studio to put down these tracks and a lot of work has gone into getting us to where we are now so hopefully it will be a celebration of all things acheived so far.
You will be able to pick up your very own limited edition digi pack copy of the EP on the night. Doors open at 8PM and admission is absolutely free.
Think thats it for the moment, were off on a road trip now to Galway to play the JD sets so i better get the skates on,
See you all on 3rd of April,
Labels out...

Monkeys, bananas, new recordings, promoting whiskey and adventures afar....
Hi all,
Its been a while since we've sat down to put pen to paper, or emm... finger to keyboard should I say, to let all of you wonderful people know just what exactly we have been up to. So long has it been in fact that as a direct result, this blog is now full to the brim with exciting and wonderful news that we have sat on for the past month or two. Are you ready?
First things first. In the first week of the New Year we were crowned winners of The King Kong Final in Dublin's Pravda. For those of you who don’t know, The King Kong Club is ..Dublin..'s (and ..Ireland..'s) premier Battle of the Bands and plays host to hundreds of acts each year. It is one of the corner stones of the Dublin underground/unsigned music scene and gives hundreds of bands their first start each year. We are honored and delighted to have won such a competition. Keiron Black just might be the closest thing to God’s representative on earth. Thank you.
Now, next on the agenda....Over the last month or so we have been holed away in our secret hide out writing new material and doing lots of practice. Lots. The reason we were doing so much practice and not a lot of gigging is because we were gearing up for a weeks recording in Sun Studios with acclaimed Producers and all round great guys Guy Massey (The Beatles/Idlewild/Stephen Fretwell) and Jay Donaghy (Josh Ritter).
Now, let me tell you something... a better week filled of fun and cracking music you could not ask for and the result of the weeks work (and practice) should be with you shortly in the form of our yet untitled debut EP. We put down four tracks over the course of seven days. There was a lot of chopping done (particularly intros), a lot of feedback heard, some great food consumed (thanks mum), and a few hard lessons in pool dished out to some members of the band. (You can’t win them all Paul). We are delighted with the end product and can’t wait for you guys to hear it. The four songs we recorded are as follows:
1) Ticker Tape Parade (new),
2) Fire,
3) You Know,
4) Swallow.
Providing all plans go smoothly the EP should be with you and available for download towards the end of March. In the mean time keep and eye on the MySpace for sneak peaks and some videos. A huge thank you to Guy and Jay for all their hard work, guidance, help and support during the week, it was a pleasure.
Moving on, we are delighted to announce that we have made it into the final thirty bands in Ireland to take part in the JD sets battle of the bands this March and April. Apparently the competition was really high and they had thousands of entries so we are chuffed to have been chosen. We will be playing the first heat in The Quays in ..Galway.. on the 26th of March along side Saccade and Woodster so pencil the date into your diaries now and come down to the west to show your support!!
Da da da DAAA... Drum roll please!!....even MORE news... We four boys are excited (really excited) to announce our first UK tour. Ever! That’s right folks, for the months of April and May we four fine fellows shall be leaving our native emerald isle and taking to the highways and byways of the UK to promote the EP. We are in the process of finalizing dates at the moment and will have more information for you all in the next couple of weeks. But if you are one of the sixty million people lucky enough to find themselves reading this blog from inside the UK then put your dancing shoes on, stick on the kettle, get ready, because we will be with you AND among you before you know it! Again keep checking the MySpace page to find out the dates in your nearest town.
That's all the news for the moment I think folks, like I said at the beginning, it’s a long one. Promise we won’t go so long next time without saying hello and keeping you all informed and up to date with the latest happenings. Now it’s back to the bat cave for some more practice and hard work,
Hope you’re all well, see you soon,
