It just wants you to do one small thing, possibly the greatest thing we all love to do. Stay in. Bond with your couch, wear your sloppiest clothing, eat pizza, order curry, drink tea, drink beer, play Playstation, read the paper, have friends over; in fact just don’t do anything that requires any effort whatsoever. This club celebrates the home, the sanctuary where you know everyone else that lives there and they know you. No pretence just a beautiful homage to mans unsung favourite pastime, laziness.

But then they danced down the streets like dingle-dodies, and I shambled after as I've been doing all my life after people who interest me, because the only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a common place thing, but burn, burn, burn like fabulous roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars and in the middle you see the blue center light and everybody goes Awww!

    • The Late Late Toy Show Most - Watched Television Programme So Far This Year

      On average, seven out of every ten individuals – and eight out of every ten children – watching television last Friday night tuned in to RTÉ's The Late Late Toy Show (Friday 30 November, RTÉ One). Viewers for the annual festive programme peaked at 1,338,000*. With a peak audience share of 77%*, this year's Late Late Toy Show was the most-watched programme in Ireland in 2007.

      The record-breaking programme, presented once again by Pat Kenny, was watched by an overall average of 1,161,000 viewers, with an average of 68% of people watching television watching The Late Late Toy Show. The ratings were slightly up on the equivalent for last year’s programme.

      The programme also proved a massive draw among younger viewers. At its peak, 90%* of all children watching television – nine out of every ten - were tuning in to see chart-toppers Sugababes perform to a host of special guests, including US comedian Jerry Seinfeld.

      Executive Producer Larry Masterson says: "There's no doubt that The Late Late Toy Show is an institution. When nine children in every ten are watching you, you know you're doing something right. Preparations are already underway for The Toy Show 2008."

      The Late Late Toy Show was the first of RTÉ Television’s Christmas programme offerings. RTÉ today released its Christmas programming line-up, offering a host of festive treats to build on the seasonal success of the top-rating Toy Show.
