2nd Blog
I’m doing well. Second blog in one week, who would have thought it!
Really enjoying my home stay, I was so scared at first! I was dreading these two weeks! But I’m actually enjoying it so much! Maiara (my mum for these two weeks) is so lovely; she’s always smiling, laughing and having fun!
The area where she lives, I call lively but she calls noise. People play music till all hours of the morning but I quite like it! People are always out on the streets dancing, drinking and eating. There is a real sense of community which I really like! She has said that it’s because it’s a poorer area so people pull together more which actually makes sense!
‘We’ live next door to her mother who doesn’t speak a word of English but yesterday we managed to have a small convocation and in the end we concluded among other things that English is hard for her and Portuguese is hard for me! She is such a lovely lady and I really want to be able to have a real chat with her which is my aim for the end of these two weeks! I’m trying to say a new sentence to her each day to build up to it.

Hi I’m Jade, one of the 21 Global Fellows in Brazil. This is my first ever blog so I don’t really no what I’m meant to be writing…
So, I’m 18 years old and I did go to Stoke Newington Media Arts Collage and in September I’m hoping to go to Manchester (that is if I get the grades).
I have really enjoys my experiences so far, the firs two weeks even though were tiring and jam packed were more of a holiday compared to what I think the last 4 weeks are going to be like as we were doing more touristy activities, visiting attraction and being shown around the different cities.
The Portuguese lessons were really good fun and even though I don’t feel so I have actually learnt quite a lot for me! I’m so bad at languages!
Were now on our second part of the trip were will be staying with a Portuguese family. I was so nervous before meeting my new family but the lady I’m staying with is so lovely! I have also spent a lot of time with her boyfriend and his sister who are equally as lovely they are so welcoming and are making me feel right at home!
Yesterday I had a really good day me, my mum for these two weeks and her boyfriend went to the beach, as it was a boiling day and they taught me how to eat crab. I got really messy but it was fun!!!
This morning was hard! I hade to wake up at 5:30 to get ready for school so I would get there on time! I think the early starts will be the hardest thing about these two weeks!
