Ian Paisley and Tradgedy
Dr. Ian Paisley was on a tour of multidenominational primary schools in Dublin and one day he decided to ask the children about tradgedy.
"What is a tradgedy?" he asked the children.
"An example of a tradgedy is if you fall out of a tree when playing," a little Presbyterian girl pipped up.
"No," replied Paisley, "that would be an accident."
Next a young Protestant boy stood up and said, "If a busload of children crashed off a cliff, that would be a tradgedy."
"Another good example," says Paisley, "but that would be a great loss not a tradgedy."
Finally after a few moments of silence a small Catholic boy says,"Well sir, if a plane flying over the country with you in it was to explode that would be a tradgedy."
"Very well done, that would be a tradgedy, could you explain how." Paisley said.
