There are an estimated 500000000000000(500 billion) galaxies in our known universe(we dont know where it ends).

Our fairly insignificant galaxy contains around 200000000000000(200 billion) stars like the one we orbit around and call "the sun".

It would take us 150,000 years to cross from one side of our galaxy to the other and that is if we travelled at 186,000 miles per second(the speed of light).

So if there are 500 billion galaxies out there, each with 200 million stars, each with its on cluster of planets isnt it quite absurd to assume that we are the only planet out there that contains life?? Bearing in mind light and water are the basic ingredients for the creation of life.

So if we now accept the notion that this enormous universe was created for our planet/civilisation alone is rather unlikely we should also accept the idea that there may be other species out there it is quite likely they have a more advanced civilisation than us.

Current estimates show that the universe is around 13-14 billion years old and the human species is around 200,000 years old. Bearing this in mind try and imagine a species that could be a billion years old =o even if we presume there is a similar species to us, somewhere in one of the 500 billion galaxies that is 5000 years in advance of us. A picture like this is quite hard to grasp, just think about where we were 5000 years ago.
