Sammy:First Question...Why are you guys such fucking sellouts?
Davey: Hahaha! Hey man, false eyelashes aren't cheap.

Davey: I'm in a van on the way to our second Decemberunderground signing. San Diego.

Davey:We were at Tower until 3 AM this morning. 1,062 kids. Stayed until the last one was inked.
Sammy: I was just going to say, the record came out today. How's your day going, Dave?
Davey: Hahaha, yeah, there you go.
Sammy:Your album was released on 6.6.06. I don't get it.
Davey:It's my grandmother's 90th birthday. I wanted it to be a gift.
Sammy:Makes all the sense in the world now. Apparently, Slayer gave your grandma the same gift.
Davey:Yeah, they're close. She used to cook them eggplant parm every time they came to town.
Sammy:I was hoping you were going to say that she cooked them babies. Do you think that your label of every other band to release their album on 6.6.06 was just so goddamned releived that that once-in-a-while lifetime date fell on Tuesday, the industry standard release day for new albums? I mean, what are the chances?
Davey:Yeah, truly. They were obviously totally into it. Certainly we didn't care.
Sammy: It makes sense, the record industry is a product of the devil.
Davey&D is cool and all, but no need to make a big deal over it.
Sammy:Would you be bummed if you found out that Jesus was a huge AFI fan? Heck, would you be bummed if you found out that Jesus was real?
Davey: Hah, actually he thinks our first seven inches are good but tuned out after that. Man, I'm so in trouble if Jesus was Real.
Sammy:Jesus hates a sellout.
Davey:Exactly! I'm so damned.
Sammy: Damned sexy.
Davey: Well, obviously!
Sammy: Oh, lord, interview coming off the tracks early...
Davey: Well, obviously.
Sammy: Let's get serious...You have sold a million records. You have toured the world. You have countless fans. You have a house in the Oakland hills. You can buy every pair of ridiculous pants you desire. What's the downside to your seemingly charmed life?
Davey: Whoa,let's just hope the ol' Sidekick keeps up.
Sammy: You mean [guitar tech and solid bro] RJ?
Davey: Well, it is a charmed life...hah...yes... I'm dictating to him. It is a lot of work. I haven't been home in weeks.
Sammy:And you are a mama's boy.
Davey: And then it was only for two nights, which was supposed to be three. Yeah, and I left my room a mess so there was hell to pay with her when I returned. There are a lot of personal demands that people outside of the biz wouldn't quite understand.
Sammey: Like abandoning your dear friends in the Bay Area for years on end?
Davey: Yes, that's one of them. And having your personal life be on call or on camera at all times... In a sense. If you know what I mean.
Sammy: It is difficult to do things in public with you. You are so terribly considerate of your fans that it takes an hour and a half to walk one block for some delicious Thai food.
Davey: Hah, right! It infringes on my loved ones dining experiences sometimes, too. But really it's a more than fair trade.
Sammy:My point was that it's harder to be a nice rockstar that an asshole rockstar.
Davey: It would definately be easy to be a dick. But people are very respectful, usually.
Sammy: Let's go get down to brass tacks and give the readers what they want. What's your favorite Sammy memory?
Davey: Most recently our little moment at Slims. That whole show was fantastic.
Sammy: It was indeed
Davey: The energy was amazing. And having our friends be part of that made it so much better.
