Hi Tay Veggies!
It was great to welcome Vicky, Sally and Pete last night to our Seasonal Supper. It was a bit of a squash as there was eleven of us round the table (a record number of veggies in Manna at any one time!) and there were squashes on the table too (orange and green, kind you eat!) scattered amidst candles, very autumnal.
Would have been cool if we'd scooped out the squashes but I'm not thinking of scooping out two holes for eyes, a triangle nose and a gappy tooth mouth.
Nah, that's not good enough any more, I've seen the inspirational bumpkin pumpkins site! Check them out for your Halloween hilarities www.bumpkinpumpkins.co.uk . Creative types could have scooped us out a "Harry Potter" or better still, a "Captain Jack"! (wouldnae boot him aff ma doorstep!) 
Art said, "don't forget the good old Scottish neep!" (But it takes toooooo long it's hard to scoooooop!) But Art has promised us tasty turnip recipes so bring it on Art!
It was a shame the Provamel products didn't arrive (?) but it wasn't a problem, we did have puds and look forward to testing at a later date.
Thanks guys for taking time and great care into what you brought along last night.

from my bad memory of what was on the menu: Aubergine dip with pittas, pasta salad, sprout salad and feta, couscous, curried nutloaf, savoury pies, chocolate cakes, apple cake (made from Joan next door's apples), fruit cake, mango crisps dipped in chocolate, drinks wise - tea, coffee, ginger beer, water, wine and 
champagne!
Yes, champagne! Not every tay veggies supper includes champers! TBH that was a first! But it was Val's special day - early retirement from work and how lovely that she shared her champers with us!
A very happy retirement to Val!

United Nations say "go veggy!"
Will get to that in a mo. First off, Tay Veggies seasonal supper will include trying out samples from food company Provamel! Georgie of Provamel asked if we'd like to try their stuff out! Mmmm OK! Not quite sure what exactly Provamel produce - we shall find out - but ...as I'm typing I'm tucking into a caramel moosey thing and ... it's quite yum. So a sampling seasonal supper on Tuesday 30 September 8 pm at Manna. Bring veggy food to share and give your tastebuds a treat! Can't wait!
Ah, did anyone read Sir Paul McCartney's letter to the press which was copied in The Vegetarian magazine? It was to do with a United Nation's recent report which stated the single most important thing anyone can do for the benefit of the planet is to become a vegetarian. In view of this, Tay Veggies will be at Newport's Fair Trade Fair on 15th November where groups get the opportunity to chat and raise awareness of various causes to the general public. We'll be giving out recipes, info, samples and generally being friendly! Takes place in Newport on Tay Parish Church Hall at 10 am. Come and have a coffee and a bun! You know you want to! LOL!

seasonal summer?
Cold, drab and rainy. And yet .... the Tay Veggies were cosy in Manna sitting round a table enjoying heartwarming vegan and veggie dishes of bow pasta, potato, green salads, aubergine couscous, falafales (eeks spelling!) chickpea curry, courgette, spinach quiches - too many dishes to remember and head stuffy with hayfever
so brain hurting more than usual!
For desert there was Val's naughty chocolate mousse from the "Rainbows and Wellies" cookbook and then a healthy balance of cherries and dates, and if two more tay veggies had come in the door, we could have made a footie team!
All this and Ry Cooder a-strumming and a-singing in the background (well the CD) what more could you want for a great veggy night out? Everyone chatting and laughing and getting along and mucking in with setting up and clearing away at the end of the night ...just like being at home.
Anyhoo, rain? Was it raining?
I didn't really notice!

hi im 12 and im a veggie have been since yr 3 its great it all ed when i cried whilst eating a pork chop coz i imagined babe in the slorter house a gun shot then sqeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeel and he never oinked again. i wuz onli 7 then wat do u expect!!!! my mate keeps saying im freaky and weird coz im a veggie ! i have to e pescartarian due as im a growing child and i need as much protein as i can sooo there u have it imn veggie

I'm back in Aberdeen at the moment after an exciting trip to Uganda then a not-quite-so-exciting placement in Shetland. I've only got 4 weeks left of uni, then exams, then I'll be a real doctor (hopefully) - scary stuff! If you are around over the summer, it would be great to catch up before I start my job in London in August. Sally x

and i love it, i don't see why people think it's so hard, i swear people have no will power anymore, how can you love animals and then eat them talk about hippocrites sheesh !!!! makes me so angry when people wont listen or make fun of vegetarians we rule !!!
