Halo 3 'Heroic Map Pack' Coming Dec. 11
Microsoft announced today that the first batch of new Halo 3 downloadable maps will be arriving on December 11 for 800 Microsoft points (about $10 dollars). Called the Heroic Map Pack, it features three new maps: Standoff, Rat's Nest, and Foundry.
Standoff is described in the press release as a "symmetrical valley, with its entrenched bases and fields of boulders [making it] ideal for mid-sized objective and Slayer game types." Rat's Nest is "an indoor vehicle paradise," supposedly inspired by the campaign and suited for big team battles. And Foundry, perhaps most interestingly, is designed specifically for Forge manipulation; using the in-game map editing tools, "players can edit every single object in this voluminous industrial warehouse, place stairways, walls, bridges and tunnels to create an entirely new play space and build almost any kind of map they can think of." So get on that, game-developer wannabes.
If you think $10 bucks is a bit steep for three new maps, rest assured that, as with Halo 2's downloadable content, they will eventually become free...if wait a while. All three maps will be free in spring 2008, "just prior to the next wave of all new 'Halo 3' multiplayer maps."

You all need 1 of theese at least... but which one?
Standard Edition -- The most bare-bones package of the bunch, it comes with only the Halo 3 game itself and nothing else. Of course, that also makes it the cheapest of the bunch at $59.99. ERP
Limited Edition -- Along with the game, this set includes one bonus disc that will have behind-the-scenes footage, a "Making of Halo 3" documentary, and apparantly an "audio-visual calibration tool" to help fans pick at their settings until they're just perfect for the game. It will also feature a Halo fiction and art book that will act as a guidebook to the Halo universe lore. All that extra stuff packed into a nice metal case for only $69.99 ERP -- $10 more than the Standard edition.
Legendary Edition -- So apparently this got changed from the four discs of content we were told it would originally contain, but thankfully it does still come packed into a giant Spartan helmet that no serious nerd collection can be without. Naturally the game and the bonus disc from the Limited Edition will be here, but there will also be a second bonus disc containing re-mastered cinematics from the first two Halo games and developer commentary to boot. Especially cool is the inclusion of exclusive content from both the guys who do Red vs. Blue and the guys who behind This Spartan Life. Oh, and a "day in the life at Bungie" featurette. Phew. But wait, that's not all! Those hardcore enough to purchase the Legendary Edition will also receive a collection of Halo 3 storyboard art that showcases some key cinematic scenes from the game. OMG spoilers. How much will this behemoth of a special edition cost? $129.99 ERP says goodbye.
Plenty of choices for fanboys and girls at every level! Just keep in mind that the prices listed are Estimated Retail Prices (ERP) only and may change when the game is actually at retail. Speaking of which, look for Halo 3 in all its shapes and sizes on store shelves sometime later this year.

And already clocked Halo 3 ODST on legendary by myself and with FireFox19397 (My brother). And also finished Halo 1, 2, 3 and Wars on legendary also.
Firefight is awesome. I got 310,965 points in 250:00 minutes on hard. Died 14 times and had 2 lives left, but I stopped playing because the X Box 360 was over heating.
Our captain (Hells Warrior09) is offering Caboose from Blue Team to challenge him in a 1 V 1 match in LIVE. So if you read this Caboose... Add him. You'll get owned.
And ODST is the best!. Firefight was pure awesomeness.
OMG i think ODST was disgraceful, the campaign only had like 5 levels.

just beat ODST for the 1st time on Heroic difficulty, took about 9-12 hours for me just enjoying it and rushing it and dying a lot at certain bits!
i am impressed and enoyed the game tremendously!
certainly does not deserve all the negative press and fanboy rants about it being the same as halo 1 and way too short.
what do you all think?
