... well not just Oliver really, but to all the aidan's crew that helped me, and everyone else, through a tough year. like you Tim O'Connor... 6 a1s and yet they took your job from you, best of luck
basically, here's a piece i wrote in Ollie D's english class, which as far as i know a lot of people enjoyed even if some parts made no sense. the debate was whether Hillary Clinton (Hilldaug) would make the best US President ever. on my team were Patrick Murtagh and Jake Rossiter...
I regret to say that not a single member of our team can see into the future. For this reason, we cannot predict whether she would be the best ever, and so, we can only say that she would be the best to date. To start, there was George Washington. The man with the wooden teeth, he clearly lacked experiencein office. We'll move now to number nine on the list, Willaim Henry Harrison... he died in thirty days. Clearly he was a great president. Abraham Lincoln... number sixteen... was assassinated... how embarrassing. At number twenty-six and at the age of 43, Theodore Roosevelt was the youngest and therefore least experienced president. Following him was William H. Taft, who left office months before World War 1, which Woodrow Wilson then entered America into... a clear mistake. Franklin D. Roosevelt asserted power at the start of and throughout the biggest war to yet hit our planet... that's World War 2. John F. Kennedy at number thirty-five had mob relations, and like Lincoln nineteen presidents before hand was embarrassingly assassinated. Nixon entered his troops into Vietnam and scarred man of their minds... what a nice guy. Gerald Ford coud only hold office for three years. Jimmy Carter failed to meet the terms his country out. George H.W. Bush started the Gulf War... and is a Bush. His son, not long after, started more wars and conflicts and arguably provoked 911 with his general ignorance.
Before Bush Jr. America saw its most prosperous times through none other than William Jefferson 'Bill' Clinton. Name ring a bell? Hillary's husband of course. With this backing, we feel Hilary would make an excellent president. She was First Lady in this time and so has seen political workings and has what many lacked... experience. The simple fact that she is also a woman means that she is not tempted towards violence like the Bushes, or Nixon, or Wilson, and so would bring an end to the wars on our planet through words and not guns. A peaceful America means a peaceful world. Peace means less war and thus less fossil fuels needed and less CO2 produced, and therefore, by putting Hillary in office, we are stopping Global Warming!
We won the debate, but Hilary, obviously, didn't win the elections.
this is my tribute to the six years i spent in my school, a period which led me to many wonderful places, people and times, thank you

Metallica - Death Magnetic
September 2008
A magnificent album, one of the best I've heard in a long time. Great work from the old rockers!
10/10
Kings Of Leon - Only By The Night
September 2008
Two years in a row from Kings Of LEon, with two highly successful and highly rated albums. Great tracks, and really no suprise it was top of the charts for as long as it was.
10/10
AC/DC - Black Ice
October 2008
A bit of a dissappointment from the old Australian rock band. I for one expected more than one decent track on the album. Sorry if this upsets any fans.
5/10
Snow Patrol -A Hundred Millioon Suns
October 2008
Another great album from Snowpatrol, with a likeable sound, and some great songs, I could very litterally listen to this album over and over.
10/10
Guns N' Roses - Chinese Democracy
November 2008
This shouldn't be referred to as Guns N' Roses. With a mainly vocal album from the band, it has surely lost the essence of such great albums like Appetite for Destruction. With only a couple of good tracks from my once favourite band, Axl Rose has let people down with this overdue album.
4/10
The Killers - Day and Age
November 2008
A good album from The Killers. Much better in comparison to Saw Dust, an album of B-tracks and covers. Different to say the least from their previous work, but an enjoyable album to listen to.
8/10

True happiness is of a retired nature, and an enemy to pomp and noise; it arises, in the first place, from the enjoyment of one's self, and in the next from the friendship and conversation of a few select companions.
If you limit your choices only to what seems possible or reasonable, you disconnect yourself from what you truly want, and all that is left is a compromise.

A great preservative against angry and mutinous thoughts, and all impatience and quarreling, is to have some great business and interest in your mind, which, like a sponge shall suck up your attention and keep you from brooding over what displeases you.
