- Greetings! Many of the people I know on Bebo I know through my work on the genealogy (family histories) of the Tsimshian, Tlingit, etc. I'm an anthropologist by training (Ph.D., University of Chicago), with no First Nations ancestry myself, but I've been working with Tsimshian people since 1995. My book, published in September of 2008, is "Becoming Tsimshian: The Social Life of Names," from University of Washington Press. It mostly grows out of my long relationship with the Kitsumkalum community.
I grew up in southern California, have lived in Oregon and Washington and Chicago, but now live and teach in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I have a wife, and three kids aged 11, 8, and 6. I'm always interested in getting to know people from southeast Alaska and northwestern B.C. Native communities. Just wish I could get out there more often nowadays.

It has been quite sometime, but I wanted to say how happy I was to come across this book called "becoming Tsimshian" I have only had time to read the first 2 chapters, in between my medical and weaving.
