- Frontman Gerard Way was a failed animator prior to forming the band.
My Chemical Romance consists of: Gerard Way (vocals), Frank Iero and Ray Toro (guitars), Bob Bryar (drums) and Mikey Way (bass). Matt Pelissier Originally played drums in the band but left and was replaced by Bob.
Bob was once a drum tech for The Used and met My Chemical Romance while on tour with them.
Gerard graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. He then spent the next few years trying to work as a comic book artist before finally settling with Funhaus, a company which designed and sculpted Marvel Comics action figures for preschoolers.
In 2001, Gerard was trying to sell an animated television series to the Cartoon Network called "The Breakfast Monkey" about a Scandinavian flying imp who harnessed a special power called Breakfast Magic, allowing him to create and manipulate an assorted menu of breakfast food.
