It looks like wedding fever is set to hit Doctor Who as David prepares to hang up his sonic screwdriver. ;(

Fans be warned - a major spoiler is on the way.

TV Towers hears whispers that three of the Time Lord's former sidekicks are set to tie the knot in this year's festive special.

The Doctor's soul mate, Rose Tyler (Billie Piper) will marry her half-human clone of the Doctor, while Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman) is set to hook up with Rose's ex, Mickey Smith (Noel Clarke).

David is also due to make a special appearance in the CBBC spin-off The Sarah Jane Adventures, which will see the Doctor attend old friend and former companion Sarah Jane Smith's (Elisabeth Sladen) wedding ceremony.

Now all that's needed is for Captain Jack (John Barrowman) to settle down and the Who family will be sorted. Maybe Donna Noble's (Catherine Tate) return could spark a romance for the pair? Err... maybe not.

Meanwhile, filming is set to begin for the fifth series of Doctor Who with Matt Smith in the lead role. The Beeb recently announced that Karen Gillen is set to play the 11th Doctor's companion, but little is known about her character.

A show source said: "Fans won't be disappointed by the new Doctor and they're in for a treat with the new series - which will include the return of the ultra-scary Weeping Angels."

But this doesn't mean we've seen the last of David Tennant in the Whoniverse.

Show boss Russell T. Davies hinted at yet another outing for the 10th Doctor down the line. "It would be nice to round things off for Doctor Who in 2009 with a special project," he said. "We're working on it."

Hmm... could there be some truth to the rumours that David Tennant is in talks to star in a Doctor Who movie? Watch this space

Im sure you are now all aware of the sad news

After the NTA's im sure we all needed a hug and a good cry...

David Tennant is leaving after the specials, he is not returning for 2010.

When David first appeared at the end of series one, I was ready for a full on rant about the mighty Chris leaving, Boy was I wrong! David has been claimed to have brought Doctor who back to the modern audience and reviving the dynamic, brilliant and down right sexy character of the Doctor! We cried when Rose left, we were disappointed (some of us) when Martha left, I was devasted about Donna forgetting! But now the time has come for David to leave, hand over the keys to the TARDIS and fold away his strippy suit and converse !

As David says if he doesn't leave now, he will be wheeled out of the TARDIS with grey hair!

WELL HERES TO YOU DAVID TENNANT!

We love you as the Doctor! and will continue to worship you as the BEST Doctor of our times (and possibly ever)!
