- Me, Myself, and I
- Kildare Youth Theatre (KYT) is a production-based youth initiative that provides drama-based developmental workshops for young people aged between 14 and 25. We provide a forum in which young people can be creative, expressive and wherein they can develop the skills necessary to be active and creative citizens. We do this by training our participants in the art of theatre.
KYT is the oldest yotuh theatre in te county and is one of Ireland's finest young performance companies, having staged international premieres of plays by leading contemporary wrters such as Mark Ravenhill and Jon Fosse, and toured Ireland, the UK and Europe. Established in 1997 by Peter Hussey the company now counts over 200 young people from all parts of County Kildare and beyond.
We are based in Crooked House's new premesis at The Liffey Studio, 1 Main Street, Newbridge. - Monday Night Sessions
- Every Monday night from 7pm to 9pm in The Liffey Studio, 1 Main Street, Newbridge, is our Core Skills Workshop (a drop-in session where we devise, play games, learn techniques, build teamwork, etc). This is primarily for those aged between 14 and 17. Anyone can come along to this session provided they are at least 14. Outside of this session there are performance projects for which people are selected from the Core Skills Workshop (also called the General Workshop). These projects include acting, devising, directing, performig, writing, and touring new plays around Ireland and abroad. Some projects are also film-making ones and dancing.
- Advanced Training
- Older youth theatre members (17 - 25) meet on Monday nights from 7.00pm to 9.30pm to train in actioning, Stanislavski techniques, comedy, and devising. To join this group you must apply in writing with an outline of your interests or drama experience to date. Types of Acting Styles Introduced and Explored: Devising; Commedia dell 'arte; Voice; Naturalism; Physical Comedy; Theatre of the Oppressed; Bio-mechanics; Suzuki; Viewpoints. Often not overtly named, these styles and techniques influence the work of the tutors in Core Skills Workshop and in directing the plays.

- Everyone between the ages of 14 and 26 is welcome to join KYT - regardless of ability, experience or talent. There is a fee (€100 per year) but this can be offset against work experience (delivering posters, office tasks etc). It takes a fair bit of work experience to offset all the fees though!! Members are also required to take part in four hours of bag-packing (spread over two days in the year) in Dunne's Stores as a fundraiser. It costs an additional €2 every Monday night - bring the €2 with you. As KYT runs 45 weeks in the year this represents a total fee of €2.11 per hour. Nothing much beats that!
- Tutors and Directors 2009
- Tutors facilitate workshops and train members in various techniques. Directors direct the plays. Leaders are senior members who assist with facilitation and take occasional workshops. Team for 2009: Peter Hussey (Artistic Director; Tutor - Advanced Training); Keith Burke and Keith Millar (Improv Facilitators Monday nights). Keith Burke and Brenda Donohue (Young Directors); Peter Lee (Technical Manager); Jillian Bradbury (Guest Voice Teacher).
- Coming Next
- Wyeth Human Rights Youth Theatre Festival 2009 will run from 7th to the 11th July. Supported by the Arts Council.

NT New Connections 2009
Hi everybody
This is the schedule for Connections for 2009. It contains who is in which play, the rehearsal times, and the performance dates. If your name is not here I apologise – it’s simply an oversight, so please contact Peter on petermhussey at gmail dot com because there is a part for everybody.
You will notice some people are listed as being in the casts of more than one play. This is because they play a crowd or chorus part in one of the plays. Rehearsal times may clash for these people but we will sort it out during the production run. For the moment, contact your director to see whether you’ve got a chorus part or a speaking part or a physical acting part (some non-speaking parts may be very big if you are in Blackout for instance). If you are mentioned below in more than one cast, then have a read of the plays and decide which one you’d like to be in. If you have not been named below as a cast member, IT IS UP TO YOU TO CHOOSE THE PLAY YOU’D LIKE TO BE IN. There are opportunities for everyone.
As you do not have to be in KYT to do Connections, this would be a good time for mew people to join. So spread the word.
In some cases you will not be needed for every single rehearsal. For example, the director may rehearse the play scene by scene so you might not be needed in some instances for over a month. This is rare though. Your director will contact you with details of rehearsal schedule. Usually, everyone needs to be present for the first rehearsal as it is here that we determine who can be available for what dates, and who is playing who etc.

Yes indeed "Hatten ar Din" is the future of modern video.
I'm actually using it as the grounds for my thesis on world culture, because it is just so relevant.
I also want that stupid blue hat!! -
