chad's take on the "bath titans"- enjoy

the way i see it. the bath titans can win the league...its that simple...but if the bath titans are gonna win the league next year there are certain fundamental "holes" which need to be filled so lets go through these holes...

1. "did he drop step...AGAIN!?"
the game of basketball can be broken down into two categorizes... offense and defense. now in terms of defense our team plays ok. most of the points that are scored on us come from inside the post. Then again to be fair to our post players, most teams tend to attack from inside so its almost inevitable...our first hole comes in the form of our Post defense..we need to be quick and intimidating...as a guard it's easy for me to critisise BUT i also know that if i was against our team i'd be more than happy to drive against us along the baseline knowing that if i get past Steve then 80% of the time no one else will come to stop me...theres no threat...
so hole 1= quicker inside defense...maybe even having us guards collapse into the zone more often...

2. if god gave you speed...why not use it?

titans are amongst the fastest teams in the league especially in terms of guards, with me, john, and Ali all being exceptionally fast with or WITHOUT the ball...
any self respecting coach would realize that this natural quickness would lead us perfectly into being a fast break team, however we dont play like one...
"the key to fast break is getting the ball over the half way line as quickly as possible" thats always been the mentality that i have played believing however our team is notoriously slow in getting the ball up court and its not our fault...
once a rebound is caught we look around for the first and safest pass...our problem is we don't know where that is and so we take about 4 good seconds before we give the ball off...this is too long...now there are two ways to overcome this.
the first is to have a designated "outlet" this player (often the point guard) is ALWAYS one the side of the court...and the moment the team grabs a rebound he shouts OUTLET (as if he would say anything else...) with this system a rebounder can instantly know were to find his team mate by hearing the sound and then passing to the spot, almost without thinking (this takes practice obviously)
the second way we could handle this is the london way...running!
i KNOW that passing the ball is the fastest way to move the ball up court BUT think about it...if a player INSTANTLY takes the ball out of his own key and tears up court all attention is on HIM...fellow players can then run ahead, cutting behind the defense...when i think back to our first game against plymoth (2 years ago) it was this style of play that allowed us to dominate even in the face of a full court press...either way next year IF we play fast break we can dominate teams...DOMINATE...however fast breaks start with rebounds....which leads me to hole 3...

3. GIMME THAT!?

say what you want about my views on the game theres one piece of basketball wisdom which has the stats to back it up..."the team with the most rebounds tends to be the team who wins"
rebounds are this teams most obvious weakness, simply put we suck... and i think we can change that.
when the ball gets put up in the air by the opposition i instantly take to the three point line, ready to dash for the fast break...but as i watch i tend to notice that steve is the only man boxing out...which makes the entire structure of the team weakened because as holds off people in the center, rebounder's can crash the boards from his left AND his right...i havnt asked Steve this personally BUT if you feel im wrong feel free to ask him and see if he agrees...
what NEEDS to happen is the area directly under the basket needs to be zoned off...like a semi circle made up of 3 players (P.F, S,F and C) these three players need to have the ROLE of rebounder's...right now i think our team lacks role definition...who's allowed/t
