Hello my people...
Well what can I say about me..I am amazing..-ly humble!! it's true, ppl tell me all the time! .ahem..yes.

I'm a 2nd yr in Trinity College Dublin, studying Religions and Theology.

I was also elected a Scholar of Trinity College this year, which is AMAZING - praise God cos I couldnt have even dreamt about getting it without Him.

I used to work as a Parish Assistant/Youth Worker in Athy C.of I. before I went to college.. Now Im the director-type-person of Holiday Clubs/Bible Camps in loads of parishes around the country..

****

Well it seems like everywhere I go I get given a new nickname so here are the ones I can remember!!:
Freaky G, G, ge'-off, Geofferson, Peanuts, Jellyfrey, Cheese, Jethro, Tou-key, Gibson, Jop Jop, Magic, Skid, Jaffa-Cake, Geoffabo, Scarface, Leader Geoff, WAR-TRON!!!! (roar!), Pillow, Geoffaroo, Cape Man / Geoffsch (it's cos I'm a Scholar), Peccy McPec-erson (cos I have big pecs), and Chris
God
I am a man of faith - I'm not a spiritual man, a religious man, an Anglican.... these are labels: they're the products of people trying to justify themselves before others - as if these labels meant something to somebody - as if they constituted anything, qualified anyone!!? They are used in such a way as to prove a point, "Im a good/worthy person, Im a .... ". I am a man of faith - this is no label... it's the honest cry of a broken individual... someone who knows where he stands; who knows that when the castle that he built around himself came crashing down, there was someone there to make firm the ground beneath his feet so that he wouldnt be overwhelmed... someone who owes the very fact that he's still breathing today to God, and who, regrettably, too often forgets it.....but never the less, is still held firm within his grasp..... I am a man of faith - I am justified not by who I claim to be, not even by the good things I do, but by the One who saw me underneath all that, and
God (continued..)
loved me... God saved my life, He taught me my worth, even if in my eyes I was worthless and messed up, He saved me, He never left me.... my faith is not my own, but is all that God has given me - it isnt a label, it's who I am - "I am a man of faith"...
Films
Ahem ....well let's see.... any Monty Python movie you can get ur hands on, Finding Nemo is quite funky too, lovin the Passion of the Christ, Harry Potter nd the Order of the Phoenix is defo worth the watch.....blah blah blah i could go on for ever
Music
Christian music - any sort!! Delirious? (oh ya!!!!), Switchfoot, Johnny Parks, Katheryn Scott, Tim Hughes, Jeremy Camp, Matt Redman, Foy Vance and so many more!!!! ...the more secular side of life i like The Fray, The Killers, John Mayer, Snow Patrol, nd thanks to Sherry (yeo!!) ive now been re-aquainted with Yellowcard!!
Funny things I, and others say about Theology....
"....that's so gay!" . . . ."...grrrrrr, that reading just hurts my face!!!" . . . ."...I dunno, I'm just stabbing in the dark here!" . . . "I love Dr. Ben....I just want to eat him!" (NOTE: I would never say I would, nor would I ever actually attempt to eat Dr. Ben! - that, my friend, is cannibalism, and is greatly frowned upon in some countries), "oh my God.....did Dan Brown write this Bible??!!!" . . . "The way God is depicted in the Qur'an really makes him look like a gay.." - Dr. el-Kaisy
Fav. Quote
"Very few people will die to save the life of someone else although perhaps for a good person someone might die. But God shows his great love for us in this way: Christ died for us while we were still sinners!" - St. Paul (circa 65 AD) Romans 5:7-8.................."I believe because it's impossible" - John Locke ~ 18th cent. theologian...................
 ....."Jesus came to preach the Kingdom but we got the Church instead.." - Loisy
Africa
.....in my heart for eternity

  • Promised Messiah = Jesus? Jesus = God? God = Promised Messiah? -Prophecy or 1st century Make-Believe

    Isaiah 59:15b-17, 20

    The Lord loked and could not find any
    justice,
    and He was displeased.
    He could not find anyone to help the people,
    and He was surprised that there was no one
    to help.
    So He used His own power to save the
    people;
    His own goodness gave Him strength.
    He covered Himself with goodness like
    armour.
    He put the helmet of salvation on His head.
    He put on the clothes of punishment
    and wrapped Himself in the coat of His
    strong love....

    "Then a Saviour will come to Jerusalem
    and to the people of Jacob who have
    turned from sin"
    says the Lord.

    Isaiah 52: 13 - 53:12

    The Lord says, "See, my servant will act wisely.
    People will greatly honor and respect him.
    Many people were shocked when they saw him.
    His appearance was so damaged he did not look like a man;
    his form was so changed they could barely tell he was human.
    But now he will surprise many nations.
    Kings will be amazed and shut their mouths.
    They will see things they had not been told about him,
    and they will understand things they had not heard."

    Who would have believed what we heard?
    Who saw the Lord's power in this?
    He grew up like a small plant before the Lord,
    like a root growing in a dry land.
    He had no special beauty or form to make us notice him;
    there was nothing in his appearance to make us desire him.
    He was hated and rejected by people.
    He had much pain and suffering.
    People would not even look at him.
    He was hated, and we didn't even notice him.
    But he took our suffering on him
    and felt our pain for us.
    We saw his suffering
    and thought God was punishing him.
    But he was wounded for the wrong we did;
    he was crushed for the evil we dealt.
    The punishment, which made us well, was given to him,
    and we are healed because of his wounds.

    We all have wandered away like sheep;
    each of us has gone his own way.
    But the Lord has put on him the punishment
    for all the evil we have done.

    He was beaten down and punished,
    but he didn't say a word.
    He was like a lamb being led to be killed.
    He was quiet, as a sheep is quiet while its wool is being cut;
    he never opened his mouth.
    Men took him away roughly and unfairly.
    He died without children to continue his family.
    He was put to death;
    he was punished for the sins of my people.
    He was buried with wicked men,
    and he died with the rich.
    He had done nothing wrong,
    and he had never lied.

    But it was the Lord who decided
    to crush him and make him suffer.
    The Lord made his life a penalty offering,
    but he will still see his descendants and live a long life.
    He will complete the things the Lord wants him to do.
    "After his soul suffers many things,
    he will see life and be satisfied.
    My good servant will make many people right with God;
    he will carry away their sins.
    For this reason I will make him a great man among people,
    and he will share in all things with those who are strong.
    He willingly gave his life
    and was treated like a criminal.
    But he carried away the sins of many people
    and asked forgiveness for those who sinned."

    Isaiah is just one of many prophets who spoke of an age where God would deliver His people not just from political oppression but from the spiritual oppression their deeds had put them under.

    Isaiah speaks first of a suffering servant of the Lord who would, unknown to those who were to witness his punishment and death, be the very thing that would bring them freedom. Sounds brilliant - a man would be good enough to destroy the chains of a spiritual oppression.... but could such a man exist? ever?

    Isaiah replies several chapt

  • Working progress.... Thought of the week

    If you acknowledge that God is the most powerful and most knowledgable Being in the universe - from whom all powerful and knowledgable beings attain their lesser degree of virtues, and then expect to fully explain and rationalise God and His works using imperfect reason, you're fooling yourself! To elevate reason to the position of it being able to completely explain God, you are in a sense making reason more powerful than God, and are therefore defeating your own argument.... bless those deists..they tried so hard!
