Never Ready to Say Goodbye



We're never ready to say goodbye
To someone we hold dear.
If it were up to us, dear Dad,
We'd always keep you here.
But God has reasons of His own
And plans we cannot know,

Though it may seem not so.

Are filled with tears and grief,

For centuries woman have been frustrated with the male mind. Many hours of chat over coffee have been spent trying to unravel it’s mysterious operation.

I believe one of mans biggest imperfections is that we are perpetually pursuing unattainable ideals.

Glorious images of seemingly perfect people and settings are emblazed in our minds daily. Sometimes we get that little glazy eyed feeling when looking in to the eyes of a stranger, or at the cover of a magazine.

When we’re struck with an image of this type, our brain chemistry shifts. Our imagination takes over and we dive in to a world of fantasy and make beleive where we imagine ourselves with this person.

What is wrong with this? Well nothing- it’s perfect. The only issue is that in real life these dreams or lustings are few and far between and when found usually unsustainable.

Man’s curse. Forever chasing something that does not exist?

Life in this imaginary world is sublime, one dream can squash a thousand fears and numb the pain of a sad existence in an instant. Armed with a dream, or vision we feel invincible and will move heaven and earth to live it.

Unfortunately for us, constructing this perfect world back here in reality isn’t so easy. Though we do try.

Dreams would have to be the reason we live for a new day. And hope the primary driver.

We date, we imagine ourselves with a person and sometimes we fall in love.

Do we live happily ever after?

I look at him, and I see our life together flash before my eyes. I see us sipping cocktails in Europe and roadtripping through the US.

Waaait a minute. The warning bells are going off in fantasy-ville. Can this last? It’s only a matter of time before the crappy bite of reality sinks it’s teeth in and I find myself coming second to his fantasies about others and vice-versa.

He’s only human and we’re all tarnished with the same brush.

I thought I believed in love at first sight. I do find it odd though that I think there is one person for everybody, since I vaguely recall feeling the same way I do, about someone else a long time ago. Does this mean that feelings inevitably wear off?

What ever happened to him if I felt so strongly? Let me tell you- it was those damn warning bells ringing “this isn’t how I imagined it” well guess what Mr. Mason- it might never be. See what I'm saying?

Doesn’t mean it can’t be bloody good though.

At the time our relationship was about as perfect as I think we were capable of making it. We genuinely cared for each other. I know no one’s perfect but why is it that honey moon periods have to end after two weeks?

My biggest fear is being in love with someone that doesn’t hold me in the same regard. I want him to love me, to adore me and to treasure me. I want him to make love to me because he wants to, not just go through the motions because I happen to be there. I want my god damn honeymoon and I want it to last forever. lols

So the big question is, can I live with the fact that men by design will only look at me with those eyes for so long? (and vice-versa)

I can’t be the first person that has ever asked this question. Can I? ^__^
