    • BODY AVENUE TIMELINE

      WHEN - June 06
      WHERE - Levin North School (Betty Montford)
      WHO - Floor Fanatik, Camrok
      PREP WORK - 15 Minutes
      SONG CHOICE - Chris Brown, Run It

      First ever performance for Body Ave .. Seeing as how i had done solo's in the class rooms too kids songs like "Crazy Frog" i realised i couldnt do this all by myself so i approached Cam (who i heard wanted to get down) to help do these lil performances.
      With not much experience himself he still said yes, "on the same day" as the show. So then we quickly rushed a simple routine, with solo acts.
      I picked "Run It" coz it had no swearing and its an easy slowish beat to remember, the structure was perfect, even bars and hooks. We used alot of bopping n waving n also some uprocks i quickly went over with Camrok who at the time didnt know much.
      Afterwards we got mad feedback (even from our local MP) which picked up our confidence levels, right then with the lil experience i have and Camroks determination, i knew we were on to something.
      So now we practise weekly, i came up with a few names for us and we both agreed on .. BODY AVENUE ..

      2nd performance, we forgot totally about it 'hence' why we were unprepared (and with me doing hiphop classes for JAIMEE KAYES production i didnt have much time to focus on Body Ave) So all day at work i listened to 'make you dance' and came up with everything in my head.
      The song structure was ok to do lil routines and solo's for, so we practised it, threw in a lil bit of Crunk and banged it out the same night.
      The next night we ROK'd IT UP all went well coulda shoulda woulda done better if we were more prepared, but we were both happy and got good feedback so that was sweet, luckily we wore white tees, bandanas n white shoes. coz we danced in disco lights which was quite dark.
      We used 'Make You Dance' coz of the hype that the song and krumping creates, but dont get it twisted im a bboy! i rep n hold it down for bboyism, but also got mad love n respect for krumping so i decided we could Have Some Fun wid it .. End Result - cant wait for the next one lol .. BODY AVE ..

      DAY 1 (2 shows)

      With over 95 kids + dancers from Nelsons WAKATU DANCE THEATER, a lady (JAIMEE KAYE) i met a few weeks back offered me an oppourtunity to choreograph n perform in her 4 day show, a show which covered an array of dances from the waltz to jazz to hip hop dances for which she teaches within her own academy here in Levin. id talk about the show but id need another blog lol so.....

      JOYFUL JOYFUL
      Jaimee Kaye choreographed the first part in this section in a theme too joyful joyful from "sister act". first the kids (about 20+) dressed in black robes walk out in a line along the back, whilst the nelson girls were doing thier contempary style of dance.
      Then the music breaks from piano into some bass n flava, the kids then remove thier robes to perform the routine which all went sweet.
      Danielle (1 of the top HH dancers in J.K academy) does a lil solo about 16 counts then i join in with a practised waving routine which ends in a lean (which after seeing the footage is pretty Lean Maori Lean!!) and then i go into my solo which is a lil freestyle with some UPs n Floorwork to go into some windmills, while the kids behind are still in routine this time with sets of harlem shakes and some bboy flava i went over with them.
      Once finished my windmills i go offstage in time for the music to cue the near ending for we finished off with a "King Tut" st
