I went to Napier recently and visited the Napier Prison which is now closed and a public attraction and BnB. As we went through the tour and found a room with boards on all walls, which used to be the boards from underneath the beds. In My Album NYFO9 Napier you will see a few pictures of them. One board particularly struck as what was written on it in very bad English was this:
