    "Eleventh Note proudly present their début EP! Call it a teaser or call it the starter before the main course is served in the form of a full length album. Hailing from Northern Ireland they have been together since 2005 and now they are prepared to sweep through the music world like a welcome summer breeze.

    Rock music can fall into one of two categories, firstly you have the shiny note perfect (studio enhanced) dullness that reminds me of walking along the beach in Cleethorpes on a wet October morning; a grim image indeed. The second category is something far more satisfying, it looks into the listeners souls, it asks questions, the old grey matter ticks over and your heart can, quite literally, be ripped from your chest. It becomes a living object and something that you carry with you, in your head and it changes you somewhere deep inside, on that note; meet Eleventh Note as that is exactly what they do.

    Only 3 tracks here for me to comment on, but I could still go on forever; waxing lyrical. They come in Guitars ablaze, creating an atmospheric presence with the heart pleading for attention; that is what you get with Like Yesterday. Yearning for attention from a lover in the most beautiful heart rendering way, I already have the tissues on the side in case I cry. Moving onto Who I Wanna Be; the chances of me crying by the end are increased; Eleventh Note do human emotion better than I have heard in a long time. The Fray did a similar thing with How to Save a Life but that only scratched the surface whereas this gets deep under the skin. My interest in this band, where they have come from and what they have been through is at high, then comes Broadway, again showing a life experience and a need to be loved; comforted and never alone. Every one of us will relate, nod our heads in recognition and be pleased to realise we aren't alone.

    By the end of only 3 songs, I am exhausted; emotionally drained and alive with energy. This is a band that can become a companion for life; like fellow countrymen Snow Patrol have become for many people; I won't make comparisons as they are Eleventh Note and no one else. If you want your music to have a life of its own; to take you on a journey this is a band you must listen to.

    Rating 10/10 – Now I must lie down until the album comes along.

    Review:
    As the first chord rings out after the 20 second instrumental introduction, I am acutely aware that this EP is far from the poor standard debuts too many bands are producing these days. The four Irish members have drawn together to create three magnificent melodic rock songs.

    Though the guitar riffs are relatively simple and repetitive, the lyrics are very well written - with references to Newton's discovery of gravity! With mellow verses and fast build-ups to punchy choruses, vocalist Joe follows every twist and turn in the music with his melodic voice.

    Who I Wanna Be is yet again another melodic rock number, showing the fast driven guitars and steady rock drum beats. Arguably similar to the other two songs on this debut EP, but no doubt equally contagious.

    Unsigned bands can often be criticised for sticking to one specific genre, but I feel in this case, Eleventh Note are more affluent sticking to what it is they apparently do best. This EP shows amazing potential and passion, and though easily comparable to the sounds of bands such as Jimmy Eat World, I honestly feel there is no reason they shouldn't aim that high in their musical career.

    Broadway takes on a completely different persona, beginning with an acoustic guitar, gradually accompanied by a series of instruments and yet another build up to the chorus. Harmonised backing vocals really bring this chorus to life, and the blend of acoustic and electric guitars surprises me somewhat. This has been done with an enviable amount of ease to create a catchy, and no doubt touching, piece of music.

    This is a wonderfully charming way to end this debut which kindly enough, is available for free download via their website. So before you head to an illegal site to download the latest predictable indie number, you should certainly visit the website below and do this auspicious band, and yourself, a favour.
