Hello All,
We are Bog o'the Loughs.

Strange name, but there's actually a bit of history behind. It's a small place up on Howth Head on the North Side of Dublin, legend has it that many High Priest's of Ireland were buried in this area.

Band members are:

Rock - Vocals | Lead guitar | Mandolin | Banjo

Ken - Bass | Vocals

Alan - Lead Vocals | Guitar | Mandolin

Colly - Fiddle | Backing Vocals

We are a Celtic-Trad-Rock band, playing everything from Thin Lizzy, The Pogues, The Waterboys, Saw Doctors, Ocean Colour Scene, Aslan, Horslips to Sharon Shannon to Alan Stivell to Mundy.....not Justin Timberlake !

    BOG TROTTING BACK TO DUBLIN

LOCAL trad-rock band ‘Bog-O the Loughs’ have announced plans for the production of their first studio album to the delight of their fans in Dublin.

Together for over three years, the band, made up of Ken Donohue on bass,
Colly Moore on fiddle, Alan Healy on lead vocals and guitar and Johnny the
‘Rock’ Weafer on lead guitar, mandolin & banjo the boys initially started off in the Annesley House on the North Strand, playing a sit down session.

Lead vocalist Alan originally played in a different outfit before he made the decision to join Bog O'the Loughs.

There is a bit of history association with the strange but very patriotic
name of the band. It’s taken from a place in the north of Dublin called Howth, where high priests were buried. The boys took a tiny piece of local legend and turned it into a classic name for their trad act.

Thin Lizzy, the Pogues and the Waterboys are high on the list of influences. However, they feel they have a little more to offer than your typical trad rock band, with slight elements of rock squeezed in with the obvious folk sound, which creates something of a crowd pleaser.

Having just recently returned from an 11 day tour in Denmark which saw the Dublin group playing three gigs in 24 hours, the hard working band was happy with the reception of the audience outside of Dublin but say they are now looking forward to playing back in their home city.

The foursome are unsigned to any label and have no record deal. When recently
approached by an English promoter, interested in promoting the band over the
radio, the group made their goals clear.

“When the time comes, and the album is ready, then we’ll think about doing it but all the energy and focus for the time being is on making an impressive debut album,” said Johnny ‘The ‘Rock’

Already available is a live cover album recorded by the band during one of their incredible live performances that features songs such as ‘Streams of Whiskey’, ‘Galway Girl’, ‘Crazy World’ and ‘Saints and Sinners’.

The album is the band’s first attempt at capturing the live feel of 14 well known Irish songs by big Irish bands with an element of Bog O'the Loughs put in.

According to lead guitarist, the ‘Rock’, hopes are high to create another live album, which seems to be where the band’s strength lies. With more of their own material coming together, there will be a lot more of the band’s
unique material available shortly. The process of capturing their live energy in an album form is a big task to ask but with a lot of experience Dublin
    fans need not fear disappointment.

The band have being working hard, preparing new songs and will be gigging all over Dublin in the next few months. With the wheels now set in motion, we can expect to hear a lot from the Dublin boys in the coming year.
