VN: Hello McFly! How are you all doing today?

Tom: Tired - we've been up since, like, 5am.

Harry: Yeah, we've been working for about 12 hours straight!

VN: OK, I'll go easy on you then. First question: Motion In The Ocean - does that mean something rude?

Tom: Yes!

Harry: Not that rude, it's a natural part of life.

Dougie: It's human nature, and we're only human.
VN: Does that sum up the mood of the album?

Dougie: Horny, ha!

Tom: The album isn't rude, the album's just fun.

Danny: Some good sing-a-long bits and some good, like, big bits as well.

Dougie: The album was going to be quite surf-y, ocean-y anyway, so when someone told us about "motion in the ocean", we thought "ah, that's wicked".

VN: I heard that you were the man with the vision behind the album, Dougie. Is this true?

Dougie: No, no, it wasn't just me. It was a band thing.

Harry: Well I dunno Dougie, I think you should take some of the credit.

Dougie: Well yeah but if it fails I don't want to take the blame!

VN: It's interesting that you describe it as a "happy" album, Tom, because Wonderland had some pretty heavy stuff on it - songs about depression, getting old, suicide. Is this a return to the upbeat style of your debut?

Tom: Well, it's got a big ballad on there, and it's got some emotional moments, but I think in general it's not like Wonderland, it's more happy. Not just happy but just some really good pop songs, we weren't trying to be too clever or anything.

Harry: It's not all happy-clappy though.

Dougie: It's experimental. It's like... jellybeans. Sweet, but also many different flavours. You know, the ones with the menu.

VN: Nice metaphor. What are the flavours on the album, then?

Dougie: There is a black pudding in there, I must say. Probably Transylvania.

Danny: Is there a root beer?

Harry: There's no soap one.

VN: Er, soap?

Harry: Yeah, there's always one that tastes like soap.

Danny: There's a bit of sarsaparilla in there.

VN: Sounds tasty. Is it true that your new single, Star Girl, appeared to you in a dream, Tom?

Tom: It did. Well, the idea for the lyrics did. I had a dream that I wrote a song about falling in love with an alien.

VN: Does a lot of McFly inspiration come from your dreams?

Tom: Not normally, it's never happened before actually. It wasn't even like I fell in love with an alien in my dream, I just wrote a song about it.

VN: In the video you send Dougie up into space, who I also happen to know - from perusing the Internet for naked photos - has a huge space scene tattoo on his chest. Are McFly big fans of space?

Dougie: Hell yeah! Space kicks arse!

Harry: You guys are into Star Wars and things.

Danny: When we used to sit on a hammock and look into space, it was awesome - all satellites and stuff.

Tom: And the weekend before we filmed the video I flew out to Florida because the space shuttle was going up, but then the hurricane happened and it got struck by lightning.

VN: Will you be buying tickets for Richard Branson's first tourist space flights? You must be mega-rich by now.

Tom: We were on a Virgin flight to New York - we always fly Virgin - and we met the Head Of Marketing of Virgin Galactic. And I was wearing a Star Wars T-shirt. And she came over and said, "Are you interested in space?" I said, "Hell yeah!" She gave me her card. I always said we should be the first band to shoot a video in space. With Virgin Galactic!

VN: I'll have a word with the Galactic big cheeses.

Tom: I keep telling our management to email her, but they don't really want to send us into space. Seriously, I'd love to go, I'm saving up. It's like $200,000, or a million Airmiles.

Harry: Really? How many Airmiles have you got, Tom?

Tom: Er, 120 odd thousand. But I use them to like upgrade and stuff. I was trying to work out a loophole in it, if it was cheaper if I j
