The Deletes are back in the studio in March to record another EP of new songs. We are also busy arranging gigs at the moment and we will post those dates as and when they are confirmed.

Hi friends

The Deletes didn't win the Undiscovered Live competition at the Carling Academy. A 10 piece Ska/reggae band from Essex, called "New Town Kings", won the competition jointly with a band from Sutton Coldfield called "Hot Monocles".

Before Colin Murray announced the winners (with every band onstage behind him waiting for the result), he said that a band who didn't win (The Deletes) deserved a special mention. The judges had agreed that we had the best song of the night (a song called Flags) and also we were the band with "the most potential" on the night.

...but we wanted to know why we didn't win. So, backstage after the decision was announced, James asked Colin the reason behind the judges' decision. Colin said that we would have won if we had chosen a different compulsory cover song. In fact, the cover we had chosen was, in the judge's view, shite (Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol). Even though our own music was a lot stronger than the other bands, they couldn't give us the win because the cover song let us down. Weird huh? Our own songs are stronger, yet when we play someone else's song (even though it was played well), we get marked down for it.

Having said all that, even though we didn't win, it was a fantastic evening for The Deletes. We played well, made some new friends and listened to some great bands. A band called "Luma" really stood out as being one of my favourites and The Shakes played well too. Hopefully, I'll get some photographs up soon on here soon once people email them to me.

A big thanks to everyone who came all the way from Glasgow to support us on the night. It's really appreciated.

Hi friends

We've got one more gig, at ABC2 in Glasgow on 8th August, before heading down south for the British final of the Undiscovered Live Competition on 15th Aug.

Also, we're looking for suggestions for a cover song for the competition in London. So far, we're thinking of playing "Chocolate" by Snow Patrol. Any other suggestions will be welcome!
