    • Busy as fuuuuck

      Not that anyone cares but I've been having an amazing and busy time over the summer, and the busyness doesn't show signs of stopping.

      I've had the pleasure of taking photos of some great bands, having amazing laughs in the process. I didn't expect to get quite so busy with the photos and web design stuff this year, but it seems that alot of bands dig what I shoot, and I dig the laughs. Yup. Everyone's a winner.

      Obviously Temper to the Calm has been busy, mostly behind the curtain over the past couple months, but in general we've been busy all round. We now have 13 confirmed new songs for the new album which we hope to record properly in December/January and have out in the world by March or April. Probably April as these things go....

      The demos are sounding amazing, better than the final cut of "True Novella"... which gives us hope! :L

      Anyway, I just thought I'd express my happiness with stuff. Oh yeah, I should be moving out at the start of next year, getting a place with my sister and her friend Alicia (who's currently living with us... it's fun!)

      Fun times all round. Who needs girls eh.......

    • Oasis split? In 1999 this would have mattered...

      I wanna condense my usual half-an-hour blog into something a little more manageable.

      Basically I'm jumping quickly on the issue of this Oasis "split". I want to clarify a few things. Oasis were the reason I got into music, proper music that is... the kind with people that write and play their own stuff.

      That influence quickly got me into writing my own songs, way before any of them were actually any good (I must have written around 50 songs between the age of 12 and 13.. about 2 of them were semi decent little indie tunes).

      At the time there were no pretenders to the indie throne, noone to challenge Oasis and actually get away with it. You heard Oasis on the radio, or you saw a new video on TV and it was completely exciting, that kind of excitement that you just don't get anymore.
      Ok James but what about the guys who are NOW 13 years old and are maybe gutted about Oasis? Well that's a good question and I'm glad I asked myself that.... you see, since the birth of such "bands" as the Libertines and Razorlight, indie music, the kind of indie music that really mattered... died. It died a horrible death and gave way to this whole new thing we call indie.

      The last time an indie band mattered, it was Oasis... and it was around 1999, the last time Oasis released a good album.

      People who are in their early 20's who are gutted about Oasis splitting up, have only got "into" them in the past 5 years, via bands like the Libertines etc... (I can't even say that L word any more, it gives me cancer). It's for this reason of backwards association, that people think that Oasis actually still matter. However for guys like me that were turning into teenagers when Oasis ruled the roost... Oasis have been dead for nearly a decade.

      So I'm sorry folks, just realise that Oasis have been shit for ages because Noel Gallagher stopped writing most of the songs, and he obviously just couldn't be arsed with the whole deal anyway. Noel G will start a new band, and even if he goes solo (which I hope he does) then trust me, we'll see some better tunes from him.

      But they don't matter... they don't. And please stop listening to the band that sounds like Shibertines.

      Oh yeah... I hear they're "reforming" for next years festivals. Sellouts. Yeah I don't usually care about selling out but I guess Pete D. needs tons more crack that his own albums simply can't fund.

      Anyway it's bed time, I've got a photoshoot tomorrow...

      Ha ha you don't need to apologise. My weekend was ok...went to irvine on friday to visit mum and dad. Had a right sore throat and now i'm absolutely choked with the cold! :( i felt as if i was dying yesterday!
      I'm just chilling on the couch with my duvet. I require hugs and tea. Ha ha. What you up to today? X

      What happened at Oxjam like? I mind ashley mentioning something but I can't remember what it was. Nice man, when will the demo's be up? We should have a new one done for Classic Grand that we might print up a few copies of. We did it with that guy that did Mogwai's last album, sounds good to me so far.
