Music
i'm more a fan of certain songs than acts. Mostly 60's and 80's stuff tickles my fancy. At a push some of my favourite artists are Van Morrisson, Bruce Springsteen, The Jam, The Beach Boys, Neil young, Tom Petty, the travelling wilburys the younger knives, the boy least likely to, the editors, the kings of leon, clap your hands and say yeah, Tom Baxter, Snow Patrol, The Reindeer Section and of course the insurpassable Raggedy soul.
Films
Carlito's Way is an all-time favourite of mine. i like gangster films of that ilk such as Goodfellas. More recently i'd have to say training day. I think denzel washington is the greatest actor of our generation. I've recently watched the Deer-hunter. Incredible film, complete materpiece. Such real emotions.
Sports
Liverpool fan for my sins. So many barren years but finally starting to reep the rewards. it's all about perseverence. I enjoy watching most other sports especially rugby, though i don't see that as a lifestyle choice.it has been rumoured that in my younger days i participated in sports but this is largely unfounded. after a rather undistinguished career with Rapid Vienetta (played 2) i hung up my boots and am yet to recieve any offers worthy of tempting me out of retirement. i have just started a yoga class but i'd appreciate if you'd keep that to yourself thanks.
Scared Of
flying, eternity, infamy, falling on my ass and being rumbled as an imposter.
Happiest When
those lazy hungover days where time stands still, sitting around with good friends recounting good times. Taking the piss and having the piss taken out of me. I also enjoy cooking, reading and long walks in the country.
Bad Habits
Losing anything of even incidental value. I think i meant to become a Budhist monk and foresake all material things.Can be a bit of a smart ass but i'm reigning it in.
Books
I'll read anything. Bus tickets, the back of cereal packets, even those stupid poems on the DART. Mostly though it's historical/factual books or novels. My 2 favourite being Catcher In The Rye and Catch22 for anyone who wants an insight into my psyche.

      Samantha Mumba once remarked that Twink could not "discover a fart in a paper bag", now I have no idea what this means but this is no fitting epitaph for a pioneer in Irish light entertainment, these are the words of scorned wannabe, envious of the critical success of "Rockinson Crusoe", a production from which she was sacked. Close your eyes, imagine a world without "play the game", imagine a world without "the lyrics board", imagine a world without .......panto, sick i know. Open your eyes, read the bit after you closed your eyes, then skip this bit.

      We'll never be able to fully ascertain the impact of the "Twink Factor" on the Irish economy but one thing is for sure, you owe her. Now look at my flashbox, look her in the eyes, hear her anguish, can you let this suffering continue?

      Well, as I suspected 4 non blondes were the greatest one hit wonder merchants of the 90's. who in their right mind could deny a band with such avant garde fashion sense that accolade.

      For anyone who cares Linda Perry from 4 non blondes disappeared into obscurity for before launching an unlikely comeback as a pop composer. tunes from her repetoire include Pink's "Lets get this party started" and dirty bitch Christina Aguileras "Fighter". Somehow I don't think either of these songs will have the same resonance as "what's up?" a decade from now.

      Movving forward i'd like to move backward if you follow my drift and into the hairspray-encrusted swamp that was the 1980's. A simpler time, a time when boys wore eye-liner and girls wore, well girls wore alot of what they're wearing now. I can't claim to have personally experienced any of this of course but I caught the echoes. We've all seen the original teen movies. "Pretty in Pink" and "The Breakfast Club" may not have involved sex with confectionary but they were the precursors to American Pie and what they lacked in Lewdness they made up for with.. em hairspray again probably.

      Anyway it's easy for us to look back with smug scorn on 80's music with it's naive synth sounds. We're elctro-pop savvy at this stage and alot of it sounds like it's come off a Tomy 'my first keyboard' but without those early pioneers where would we be now?

      'Love is a battlefield' apparently and so too was the 80's music scene. The remnants of punk battled with the encroaching new romantics and the electro synth boys like new order and joy division. To my mind the 80's was far more rich decade for music than the 90's.

      Anyway let me know what you think. I'm going to start with some of the more credible tunes and bring the Frommage later.
