- This is a Youth Liberation Movement encouraging youth to free their minds/imaginations from any limitations they have set on themselves or feel society has placed on them and pursue their own talents and aspirations to create something positive.
- ~Why Da Black Wrist Band?~
- The color black symbolizes shadows. It’s easy for our youth to feel hidden or unseen standing in the shadow of authority, elders, community leaders and those they look up to. The youth have so much to offer our community (music, art, literature, ideas, etc.) but are often left without an open positive space to share it.
- ~Hw Is Dis Significant?~
- By acknowledging that you are in the shadows, you can then pull yourself out of the shadows and allow yourself to be seen. You are no longer in the shadow but are now determined to shine. Open your mind and allow your talents to take you where you truly want to go. Whatever your goals and aspirations may be you must now recognize your potential to achieve them.
- ~Why a Wrist Band?~
- The significance of the wristband is a constant reminder of your own liberation in breaking free from negative stereotypes and limitations but also that you now have the opportunity to help pull others out of the shadows as well.
- ~What Do I Have To Do?~
- Live the HYPE! By wearing the HYPE wristband, you are acknowledging that you can do or become whatever it is you set your mind to. You also agree to pursue your goal in a positive way that will benefit yourself as well as your community. Pursue your passion and don't let anyone/anything stop you.

**NEW MOON** TO ME...
I heard many conflicting reviews about New Moon. I was'nt expecting anything, really. I arrived at the cinema late. Once I sat down the lights dropped and faded. It was a very young crowd there. There were boys standing up in the front having a popcorn fight. It was noisey than usual. I remembered school had finished and NEW MOON was a movie that had attracted more of the younger crowd. On the left of me about 5 seats away sat young adults probably aged 19-23yrs old. On my left hand side was a coulpe around 19-21yrs old. Striahgt away I knew it was'nt going to be so quiet, like it should be when your at the movies. As soon as Edward spoke, the clown next to me started talking back to Edward. When the first song started, he started singing it, like harmonising it too. His voice was'nt bad, though. There was a scene when Edward kisses Bella. He starts making these moaning and groaning noises. I could hear his girlfriend telling him to be quiet and laughing. I decided to just block him out and watch the movie.
I was swept off my feet by this Edward character. First of all he has this Love for Bella that is beyond Superficial Love. Her blood tickles his senses and yet he has this self control and self mastery over himself, motivated by his deep and true love for her. He wants her so bad but loves her enough to hold back. I know what its like to be young and impatient. Bella Shows this part of her early in the movie by begging Edward to let her become a vampire. She wants to be with him forever. She loves him, but in a different way. She wants to express he wants to hold back. He decides to move away from her instead of putting her life in danger. It reminds me of the movie NOTEBOOK when Noah decides to break it off, even though it was killing him inside, he loved her enough to do what he thought was best for her. Edward leaves. Bella Becomes reckless and suicidal. Edward is still around in spirit to watch over her and protect her. Still this is not good enought for Bella. He continues to stay strong, until he thinks Bella is dead. He no longer wants to live for eternity and would rather die. She comes and saves his life. In this scene, the love they share is tested. Bella Lays her life on the line for Edward. It shows a pure love of unselfishness. I really believe this is why she was able to resist thier powers. Anyway, things happen and they decide that it is best to accept Bella as a vampire. He's happy, shes happy. He asks her to wait 5yrs or 3yrs but she cant wait. She asks him to be the one that changes her. I knew he would accept but I never expected he would first ask her to marry him.
To me, having Bella beg Edward to change her represented sex or breaking the law of chastity. In a way you do suffer a death, if done incorrectly. You suffer spiritual death. Her blood was like temptation. Edward was ALWAYS tempted when being around BELLA. But because he loved her so much, truly loved her, he held back. He used self control. He never wanted to hurt her in ANY kind of way or form. I will never forget Bishop Cocker saying this in sacrament meeting last month. True Love does not want to hurt you in any way. I love the part with Edwards dad, taking care of Bella when she was bleeding. She asks him how are you able to control yourself while you patch my wounds up? He says through years of practice. It's true. Practice makes perfect. At the end when Bella asks Edward to be the one to change her, he asks her can you wait for me 5yrs or 3yrs? Its hard when you just want to be with someone all the time, to wait even one day. I start thinking of all these little messages that I am picking up in the movie and think I'm just being silly.....until Edward says he will be the one to change her on one condition.....that she marry him. That there, seals it for me. It is a story about true love and keeping the law of chastity...hehehe They marry and are sealed for eternity by him changing her lol.

IF U DONT LOOK OUT FOR IT, YOU'LL MISS IT!
There are 3 Things I look out for everyday. The learning helps grow my spirit, the Answers strengthen my love and gratitude for the savior and the Angels do both those things but also gives me hope and love for humanity.
Here they are....
1/ THE LESSONS- I have had so many opportunities where I was able to learn a lesson from things that may have happened during the day.
2/ ANSWERS- When I pray, I make sure I look out for the answers. Prayer is like a 2 way conversation yanno, You don't just call a friend and then hang up after you have said all you want. So yes I ALWAYS look out for the answers.
3/ ANGELS- Everyday I have an Angel. One day on my way to an Interview with South Seas, I had 2 angels that day. People who helped me out, when they didn't have to.
LESSON: I went to Otahuhu on Market Day. The streets were crowded with shoppers everywhere. I stood in a food court and waited for my mom. As I stood there looking to the road, I witnessed 2 birds fighting over a piece of chip (hot chip)...One bird picked it up from the road and as he was gonna take off, he dropped it. Then another bird swooped in quickly to snatch it but he too dropped it. They both began pecking away and fighting over this one chip....till a car comes at full speed and they both fly out of the way, so close I see a feather gently fall to the ground from one of these birds.....As I looked down to the road where the birds were fighting, The car tyre smashed this 1 chip flat into mash potatoe and you know what? Both birds flew back and another bird and they all took a piece of that one chip.....I stood there smiling and looked amongst the crowd, hopefully to meet eyes with someone else who had seen this happen in front of me. But No one was looking or even knew why I was smiling
Everyone was too pre-occupied. At the time I thought the Heavens had put on a special show for me, for being attentive hahahahahaha
So, what did I learn?
I learned to see Gods hand in everyday experiences. I learned that even though bad things may happen such as the Car racing and nearly killing one bird or smashing the chip, it could be for a good reason. I also learned that sharing is caring LOL!!! I also learned a chip was not worth losing my life LOL!!! I learned that being pre-occupied with shopping could cause you to miss the lessons AND that if you don't LOOK OUT for it, you'll miss it. I also thought it would make a good cartoon, yanno the ones that play before the movie begins 
ANSWERS: I went through 2weeks of asking Heavenly Father how to lift my team out of the $48,000 bracket. I didn't want to be making that money for the rest of my life. I had goals and dreams that would require more money than that. I wasn't sure if I should invest or be self employed or what so i took it to prayer and asked Heavenly Father. I always go to the movies by myself, I don't really care if I'm a loner just as long as I go. But for some reason I made plans with a friend to see TRANSFORMERS 2...I didn't know why but I felt strong about going with someone. That day of going to the movie I had lost my job. Being depressed about it, I wanted to go straight home but my mate was already waiting for me. After watching the movie...I asked myself "why would God drag me to a movie after losing my job?" and BAM I knew the answer right there. Go Back to school & chase my dream!
ANGELS: The morning of my Interview with South Seas, I had never caught a bus to North Shore in my life. I was nervous, wondering if I had the right information on me given by the public transport website and call center. Anyway, I kept bugging this one bus driver about directions and all, right? and he gave me this look that reminded me of the racism I had to deal with in Texas. I kinda got down and thought DAM I'm gonna be dealing with Crackers for the rest of my life . Once I got off my stop, I got lost and this one palagi man came and

Goals & Dreams...Be a Slave or Take Charge
2 months ago I watched my 13yr old son go to school come home take his uniform off play outside play with his cousins have dinner shower and sleep. Day in day out. No homework, no physical fitness, no scripture reading, no nothing. I asked him if there were any goals he had or dreams or anything other than playing with his friends, that he wanted to do. He said no. Not wanting to force him (like i usually do lol) into doing his homework, taking up a sport or music lessons, I decided that if he wanted to be a bum I was going to treat him like one.
For a whole month when he came home from school I made him clean the whole house, inside and out. I made him watch the kids while I read my scriptures. I made him do the washing while we watched tv. and I would purposely laugh out loud as we watched 'MY WIFE AND KIDS' cos thats our favorite show. Every time he got mad and said why do i have to do this? This is what I told him. "You do not have goals or dreams, that makes you a slave and this is what slaves do. Your choice, be a slave or take charge of your life". Everyday he got mad at me for doing chores I repeated those words and held my head up high.
Then....a miracle happened. He suddenly wanted to do homework and be tested on his maths. I was suprised and quite proud. I knew it would eventually work, just not this fast. I explained to him, because he had homework to do, I would do half his chores. He was happy about that. I was delighted in the progress he was making in school without the homework. This made me believe he was more than capable of doing good academically.
Just a week later, I am here in the house thinking about him, having done all the chores myself and leaving him nothing to do because he has made it a goal to fight in Golden Gloves March 2010. The time he wasted on playing is now filled with homework and Boxing training.
I knew it would work. He cant possibly be sweating and running (which he hates) just to get away from the dishes He told me he wanted to buy me a house one day. I asked him fully furnished? He replied "Dont be a slave mum, have some goals and dreams" the smart ash
I urge you to examine your life. Determine where you are and what you need to do to be the kind of person you want to be. Create inspiring, noble, and righteous goals that fire your imagination and create excitement in your heart. And then keep your eye on them. Work consistently towards achieving them.
“If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams,” wrote Henry David Thoreau, “and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.”1
In other words, never take your eye off the ball.
