Songs for a New World PRESS RELEASE
Histrionic Productions presents
Songs for a New World
by Jason Robert Brown
23rd- 25th July 2009 - 8pm
Kilmurry Church – Arts and Heritage Centre, Castletroy
Tickets €15 and €10 concession
Booking: 085 762 3355
“It’s about one moment. It’s about hitting the wall and having to make a choice, or take a stand, or turn around and go back.” So says composer Jason Robert Brown of the stunning musical song cycle Songs for a New World. When Brown first produced this groundbreaking work he had the whole theatre community talking about his unique blend of savvy showmanship and exciting contemporary sound. The audience meets a startling array of characters ranging from a young man who has determined to escape from poverty to a woman whose dream of marrying rich nabs her the man of her dreams and a soulless marriage. These are the stories and characters of today, the songs for a new world. Histrionic Productions is producing its first musical, Songs for a New World for 3 nights only from Thursday the 23rd July.
A spokesperson for the company has said “We are very excited about producing Songs for a New World this summer. It’s a show about new beginnings and making decisions. It’s about struggling and pulling through hard times. The music is a unique mixture of jazz, rock, Gospel beats and contemporary sounds. The songs are very beautiful and a joy to sing. This is a first for Limerick and a first for Histrionic Productions.”
Histrionic Productions was founded in 2006. Our ethos is to put young people and aspiring professionals to the fore of every aspect of production. We are dedicated to presenting the highest standard of theatre possible by presenting contemporary drama as well as older established classics. Previous productions include last year’s JUNK by Melvin Burgess, Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest. Tickets for Songs for a New World are now available. Reserve seats now to avoid disappointment. Booking line: 085 7623355.

Hello Histrionics! I'm feeling that the page is feeling a bit abandonded. Junk hasn't even been put on our list of past productions... does that mean that either it never happened, or is still happening...????!!! And the other website is still broadcasting that the autumn season is to be announced soon. And today is the 7th of december. So yes I'm going to give good old histrionics some luv coz, I'm supposed to be studying and its providing very good distraction, and also because it jolly well deserves some. Now, cucumber sandwiches everyone!
