From the early age of just 9, Belfast DJ and Producer Mog started his career playing in local clubs and under 18 events across Northern Ireland. Winning local DJ competitions and building popularity he earned himself regular guest spots at popular Belfast Nightclubs such as Copperfields and the Orpheus, where he was later spotted by established DJ and Producer Modelle. Keeping in contact with one another Mog and Modelle went on to become well known production partners, producing under a number of aliases including 'Funkaholicz', 'The Columbians', 'Tuff Twins' and the 'Blitz Kidz' as well as remixing for major record labels like All Around the World and top artists such as Tina Turner, Nomad, Major Players and Hard House Queen, Rachel Auburn. The most well known of their productions was their local club hit 'Tribal Satisfaction' which received huge DJ support & was showcased at Northern Ireland’s Superclub, The Met Arena and at a special event held at Windsor Park.
Since working with Modelle, Mog now 25 has gone on to be crowned Northern Ireland Mixing Champion 2004, DJ with world class DJ's like Fedde Le Grand, Judge Jules, Armin Van Buuren & Paul Van Dyk and jet off to the Balearic Islands of Majorca & Ibiza. In 2005 Mog went on to setup his own recording studio, Hairy Lemon Studio's, which has seen him produce under an array of different names and aliases. From the funky club house sounds of the Space Hustlers to the minimal madness of Tatoe & Tease, Mogs productions have been gaining him ever increasing popularity among clubbers & DJ's alike. In 2006 his huge electro bass driven remix of the Killers anthem Mr Brightside earned him massive worldwide DJ support, radio plays and his first 'Tried & Tested' record of the week from Judge Jules as well as being given the title of Dave Pearce's 'One For The Weekend', helping it make its way on to all the Radio 1 Dance Shows from Pete Tong to Annie Mac.
And as 2006 came to an end there were no sign of things slowing down for the busy young man. With a new residency at Clubland in Cookstown added to his belt, Mog also took to the stage for the first time at Ireland's biggest dance festival Planet Love, alongside Paul Van Dyk, Chicane, Happy Mondays, Judge Jules, Eddie Halliwell and Mauro Picotto on the main Radio 1 stage, as well as jetting off Majorca to DJ at the islands most famous nightclub. BCM.
In 2007 Mog continued his residency at the MASSIVE 'Clubland' nights in Cookstown, a venue that has seen exclusive tours such as MTV Dance's 'Live' Tour, Dave Pearce's Radio 1 Dance Anthems Tour, The Tidy Boys 'Tidy' Tour and Northern Irelands biggest festival 'Planet Love' all grace its doorsteps. He has also appeared on Radio 1's Dance Anthems Show with Dave Pearce providing an exclusive live interview and Guest mix, was nominated for 'Best Live Performance' alongside Fatboy Slim & Tiesto at the 2007 Northern Ireland Dance Awards and appeared on the Galaxy Chart on MTV Dance.
Building on the success of 2007, 2008 Mog went on to start-up his own digital label, Ego Records who’s 1st release, “DJ Mog & Phil Crawf Present: Tatoe & Groove - Scorpion” became a Judge Jules ‘Tried & Tested’ record & made its way into DJ Downloads Top 20 best sellers chart. Remix offers soon followed after the success of 'Scorpion' & it was DJ Mog & Phil Crawf's remix of fellow Northern Irish & worldwide 'Trance Superstars' Agnelli & Nelson's, 'Just When' that would earn him a place on Judge Jules' ever popular 'Judgment Sunday's' compilation which topped the UK album charts' top 10 & became a firm fixture in download charts across the internet! It was the success of releases such as this, that lead to a interview with the Irish Star & none other than the BBC to take notice. Coming in the form of Radio 1’s Judge Jules, Mog was asked to join the line -up alongside some of the freshest new talent on the BBC Introducing stage at Creamfields 10th Anniversary Festival, a stage who’s artis0 Comments 136 days
