One morning while driving
On my way home
I saw a road with a sign saying
The road was closed
I thought to myself not flooding
No not again
But drove past it anyway
Whilst thinking of all the rain
It was while I was passing
That pain took hold
It was a pain in my heart
A pain I've never known
My eyes were getting heavy
Tired from the long trip
Closed my eyes completely
From the road I nearly slipped
When something woke me
Or someone I should say
Experienced a moment of fear
Ate a cookie to keep me awake
It was later that morning
When I got the news
I was in so much shock
Couldn't believe that it was true
My heart began to ache anew
The not knowing sheer torture
I didn't believe any of this
Knew you were coming home for sure
Then my worst fear occured
You were gone from me forever
Wanted to scream at the world
Wanted to shout out NEVER!
It was then I knew my son
You are my saving angel
The boy I raised the man I know
The baby I placed in a cradle

On that fateful morning

I read it in the papers
Read what the doctors had to say
