The worst part of being back from Rinn is something you never notice straight away.
It's after a day or two, when you realise you're no longer surrounded by your friends all the time. When you realise you can't hug everyone you see. When you walk down the street and still expect to see the faces of the people you know and love, only you remember they live across the country.
When you walk through crowds hoping you recognise someone, like you used to do, but then you start to realise it.
You're back home.
You're not waking up in a dorm.
You're cooking for yourself again.
You're listening to the shit going on in the town.
You won't see the sea everyday.
You won't lie out on the slab or the golf course singing songs with friends.
There is no halla.
There's no tigh brid with piano-equipped classrooms.
There are no ceilis that everyone hates but always laughs about later.
There are no theme nights to plan for.
There are no randomers to walk up to and befriend.
There's never going to be enough people for a rinn-sized group hug.
And even when you know you're going back
You know that there are so many friends who aren't.
