Drinking is not a crime. Rape is!
Me, Myself, and I
This Is Not An Invitation To Rape Me is a campaign that was launched on 16 October 2008.

CAMPAIGN WEBSITE - www.thisisnotaninvitationtorapeme.co.uk

Please check out the website to find out more about the campaign.

Rape Crisis Scotland wants to confront attitudes blaming women for rape in a very direct way, and invites members of the public in Scotland to join us in putting an end to these attitudes.

The campaign comprises a range of images (and supporting materials) that invite you to examine your own attitude to the situations presented, and enter the debate that we hope our campaign will generate.

Any horrible or disgusting comments will be deleted from the website and you will be reported to bebo.

  • Do you feel its a woman's fault she is raped if she was drunk, wore revealing clothes or flirted?

    Faye Wilson by Faye Wilson
The whole idea of this campaign is a large portion of society blame the woman when she was raped by a man.

In court, many rape victims have lost because the jury believed it was the woman's fault for being drunk, wearing revealing clothes, had numerous sexual partners in the past, flirted or was intimate with the guy or worse still was even married to him.

The aim of this campaign is to raise awareness within society that regardless of whether a woman portrayed any of the above, it doesn't give the man the right to rape her.

We have set a tentative date to climb Mount Kilimanjaro. We are planning on doing it around 20th September 2010.

I appeared in the Independent on Sunday this Sunday 7th March supporting National Women's Day. Will try and get the article on here.

Thought I'd better update this to let everyone know what else has been going on.

So far I have raised around £200 for my cause which is really good.

I am in the process of making a video for rape crisis scotland which should be completed around July.

Keep checking the site as I will be updating as often as possible.

As you may be aware, I went to press with this story and it has received a lot of coverage.

To date, I have done a televised interview for STV which was shown on the lunchtime and evening news. To see the full interview and read the story, go to

    http://news.stv.tv/scotland/north/15...

I also did an interview for The Scotsman which got the front page headline and a page inside. To read the article, go to

I did an interview for The Sun, which got a full page. To read the article, go to

I also did radio interviews for Northsound, BBC Scotland and Original/Real radio.

After all this press coverage appeared, I then had the editor from the Scotland on Sunday pick my story as one of his top 3 stories for the Leaders column that week that he felt had a made an impact. I was really pleased about this as I felt like I'd made a difference. To read the article, go to

Also, so far a few women have called Rape Crisis centres seeking help after hearing my story which is amazing.

The Scotsman editor has chosen my story as 1 of 3 of what he thinks are the biggest stories this week to make an impact. He has written in the Leaders column of the Scotsman today which I'm really pleased about :)
