Festivals.
Woo Hoo! Sonisphere in a few days! I get to see Limp Bizkit! ...uhh.. Lamb of God? ..um.. Avenged Seve... Ok why the hell am I going again?
Oh yeah! METALLICA! Yep, thats the only reason, sure I paid 175 quid to go to a 2 day festival but in all honestly it was just to make sure I see Metallica more than once in my life. Say what you will but to me it is worth it, especially with the likes of Heaven & Hell (the BETTER version of Black Sabbath) and the mighty Saxon! As well as Anthrax, Paradise Lost, Alice in Chains, Soil and Coheed and Cambria (streching it with that last one..).
Lucky for me Sonisphere is not my only festival, I am also bound for Bloodstock with its infinitly better lineup and better location too. I almost didn't buy the Bloodstock ticket, because my friends were all going to Sonisphere and none to Bloodstock (thats the other reason I'm going to Sonisphere). But one band literally forced me to buy a ticket, that band is Blind Guardian. I bloody love Blind Guardian and they never come to the UK so as soon as I heard they were coming to England I didnt care where it would be, I would be there. Fortunatly there are plenty other bands at Bloodstock that I would love to see and one of my friends has actualy bought himself a ticket so its a total win win.
For a while now I have been happy with just these two festivals since this is the first year in my previous 3 years of festival going that I am going to more than one festival. Although now I have found another festival I want to go to; Metalfest, with the likes of Primal Fear, Power Quest, Dragonland, Warpath and Blaze Bayley. It is a three day festival on the 25th 26th and 27th of September for a bargain price of 75 quid. The other good thing with Metalfest is that it is in Dudley and thats only a stonesthrow away from where I am living in Birmingham so I wouldnt even need to camp there, although I probably will anyway.
All in all it should be damn good fun and I cannot wait for it.11 comentarios 124 días

Linkin Park
Linkin Park have to be one of the most hypocrital bands out there (apart from Avril Lavigne but she is a solo artist..). They had a really good thing going, their music was there own and I respected them for it. Then came the big Emo takeover and a lot of bands got swept up into it like Papa Roach, LostProphets and of course, Linkin Park. Suddenly all of these bands who were really quite different all sounded exactly the same, whiney, preachy and bloody gay.
The reason why Linkin Park are special enough for a blog is because of the 'reason' why they had changed. Mike Shinoda said in an interview "We wanted to go in a different direction with Minutes to Midnight as Meteora felt to us like Hybrid Theory 2." Now at the time I thought this was fair enough, even though I disagreed with him and the style they had changed to happened to be the big 'in' style of the time but I just rolled with it. Now flash foreward to recent times and the second Trasformers film, obviously they made What I've Done for the first one so they were drafted in for the second. The song is New Divide and it sounds almost exactly like What I've Done, I couldn't believe my ears, I could literally hear the hypocrisy. So now they are gonna go ahead and release pretty much a Minutes to Midnight 2, but its Ok to do so because as long as its in that Emo style they have picked up, they're gonna get their money.
