I live in Glasgow. Its quite good, but I have a feeling living in New York City instead would be nicer. Or Paris. Or Strasbourg!
I'm at Strathclyde University studying English, Journalism & Creative Writing and Politics. I'm really enjoying it!
I love to write and would like to be involved in film, theatre and the arts in any way possible. I just love it.

Jade Goody. The very name now conjures up images of a sad and tragic figure, who was taken from the world too early to leave two little boys without a mother.
I agree - obviously - that its sad that she died young, but everyone does seem to forget all of the various awful things she said during her life, particularly the seemingly racist comments she made towards Shilpa Shetty, which did her no favours.
Michael Parkinson is right. She was ignorant. She was a young woman who became famous for being in a house, being the stupidest person in that house, humiliating herself whilst in there, and then doing so even more for the rest of her "career", which again only came about because of that house.
I respect her decision to go public about her disease, thereby alerting other women to go for screenings, etc and I also respect her making money so that her sons will get the good education that she never had.
Its a shame what happened to her, but we have to remember that she was not a saint - not that she ever claimed to be, fair enough - and should not be treated like one. She was a minor celebrity who was not very well respected throughout the latter part of her life but who turned it around slightly before her death.
I am sorry that she is dead, but the amount of coverage that her battle with cancer received is ridiculous. Thousands of people, millions if you think globablly, die from cancer every day and they do so privately and without the almost "state" funeral that Jady Goody received.
She was not a martyr by any means, and as such, she should not be remembered as one.24 Comments 234 days

One thing the Russians know how to do is sweets. We found these things called "snezhik" (snowballs) which are little coconutty ball things, and also things called "anoushki" (little annas), whhich are like caramel shortcake, but shaped like massive acorns and covered in chocolate and coconut. So good! :] I'll try and bring some back, actually....

Woo! M is fab, isn't it? So fucking scary.
I know, it is horrible. It's interesting, here you hardly see any young beggars (in Tver', I mean - in Moscow there are homeless orphans everywhere), but old people or ex-soldiers who got shafted by the state.
I can't wait for Winter! We have a reading week in November, and I'm going to Murmansk - which should be in permanent darkness by that time! It's the only port in Russia that doesn't freeze. Ooooh... :]
