Explosions in the Sky on Tueday woop woop! Feedback! Distortion! Noise! HOORAH!

FRIDAY arrived.. our ticket stubs were like 'DRESS CODE-SHOCK!!' seriously!! and we were like 'hmm...FACEPAINTS ) Neon belts, psychaedelia prints, lepord skin leggings, buddy-holly glasses and leg warmers.. oh yes yeah.. Just then upon arrival.. we were like one of the few, it turned out who actually went 'Fuck it lets go mad here' As we were queing Beth came up and started chatting to the crowd awwwww she is so cool and little seriously- about 5ft.2! i gave her a wee hug and she said she loved my eyes (Fotos will be up soon btw!!)

THE GIG..
Crowds swiftly gathered at the front, before swarms arrived for CSS. The Roadhouse is like manchester's quivilant to New York's CBGBS- proper cramped, dirty, punky and literally underground. It's smaller than the tradesclub And i'm 2nd row from the front.. class When CSS came on there were shitloads of glowsticks in the air, cans of beer everyone was going "WAAAAAAAAAAARGH!" Theres no stage, only a barrier of an elbow-high bench.crowd is already on level with the band. Lovefoxx arrives on stage, wearing a black tshirt, leotard dungarees beneath a bin liner dress and painted glass frames on her face and shes still frickin gorgous She stamps, dances, jumps SCREAMS and the crowd no nuts Mid gig she flings the crowd pitta bread to see if they're hungry, and i get a crust in the eyebrow she stage dives, i'm suddenly part of this ameoba of hands lifting her tiny frame along, getting my face wedged in her thigh before she wraps her legs around the pipes overhead, supported by the surge of hands beneath her. The guitarist jumps in too.. When 'lets make love..' kicks in everyone is just going mad. Lovefoxx squeezes an orange into the crowd, flings a few bananas in and gets people from the front row to pull her bin-liner dress off. SUDDENLY Beth Ditto joins in lifting up the other guitarist, dueting with Lovefoxx and rocking out.. before collapsing as she tries to lift the guitarist across the threshold of the stage.. it feels like i'm at a party watching friends of friends going mad.. this gig is insanely intimate.
When CSS finish, everyone is chanting for them..as the equipment is shifted for the gossip the choons are pumpong in the background..hot chip's "over and over" suddenly comes on and the crowd starts dancing, its a gig, its a club its a party its just madness..LoveFoxx and Beth suddenly come on and start dancing together its crazy Almost immediatly beth gets down and starts dancing in the crowd (Me and her boogied out! FACT! fotos later ) Before dissappearing back to the end of the crowd and into the dressing rooms. After a while the roadies get back to work...and almost immediately the guitarists from CSS and the gossips drummer and guitarist, whoa re also helping start messing about having a laugh when a curtain comes down and suddenly it's an orgy of legs, limbs and grappling benetah this big curtain, just having the craic.. I really do feel like i'm just in a party.. Me, pollyanna and nich are already blown away, and the gossip havent even gotten on stage yet.
Finally the Gossip walk on, just cool without the aloof attitude and are smiling, (and a tad fucked! ) theres a rather unsavoury display of what she does with and where she puts glowsticks, smelling and chucking them at the audience.. Beth begins with a soft croon and the crowd just splurdges forward, before tearing into 'Listen up' and christ almighty she has some voice She just rocks out without giving a fuck, reaching out to the audience, and actually getting down and climbing into the moshpit and rocking out with everyone..CSS run onstage and flig more pitta bread at everyone..I'm 5ft 10 and my feet arent even touching the ground it is absolute bedlam People fling underwear onstage and she squeezes in to them before flinging them back again. she sheds her dress and is now just wearing a top and black tights..when 'standing in the way of control' burst
