- I decided to write this book for several reasons. First was for personal healing and the second reason was, I want to educate people and to raise the awareness of the effect child abuse has on it’s victims. I also feel the need to reach out to those whom have been abused and let them know that they are not alone.
Robbed of a Childhood will give you an insight of the effects child abuse has on children. We as parents have a duty to our kids.. We need to firstly listen to what our children tell us and we also have a duty to protect and keep our kids safe from the evil monsters lurking in our neighborhoods and preying on our young innocent children. I don’t want your sympathy, I want you to step back and look how you are raising your children, if you are doing any of the things my parents had done to me I beg you to stop and seek help.
As an abused child I just can not forget about what I had to endure. I would carry it with me for the rest of my life weather I like it or not...

I actually read this book by accident at my university library. I was looking for something else for an essay I still have to write, stumbled upon it and stayed till I had read the whole thing 5 and a half hours later :-( I recently had the person that sexually abused me come and apologise and ask me to forgive them and admit what they had done was soooo wrong so I understand how you feel about facing up to your abusers.
My mates were all writing their essays, asking what the fcuk I was doing that whole time and they said that I was crazy wasting so much time. Well, I started telling them what it was about and they were fighting over who was getting it out. We've all been talking about it now and think that you're so brave and such an inspiration and that its so amazing that you have the courage to tell your story...

Liz Robinson100 weeks agoany sick discusting person who would hurt a child needs to burn in hell with the devil! that is wrong. parents killing their kids 4 no reason. kids think it's their fault they get beat but it's not. when i grown up i wanna be a social worker so i can save kids who get hurt by their parents. i wanna save those kid's lives and i wanna help. no child deserves to get beat by their abusive parents. if i could, i would get all the children in the world that get abused and i would save them all, thats how much i care about children. when i grow up i hope 2 have my own children and i will always protect and love them. i pray deeply for all those kids out there. God is watching over them and if they die they'll go 2 Heaven with our Lord and he will always protect them and when those abusive parents die God will judge them and send them 2 Hell where they belong! how could anyone hurt an innocent child? it's sick.

It is just horrendous how some mothers let men abuse thier children, or how a adult can abuse a child ..any child.. A child is a gift. Thank you for sharing your life experiences, it makes me appreciaie my own up bringing and makes me aware that not everyone lives in a happy family. Your story is so easy to read and my heart just goes out to you and all the children that have had such a revolting upbringing.
by Corrina 48 weeks agothis is very sad i nearly burst into tears while reading your story. it reminded me of the years of psychological, mental, emotional and verbal abuse i received from my father. to this day i cant still forgive my mother for not having the enough courage to leave him when things went downright ugly. i dont hate my parents, nor blame them for the awful things that happened to me, but i really do think i wouldnt have all the awful mental problems i have now if have had loving and accepting parents. my childhood and my early teenage years were "censored", but to this day i still dont regret anything. the past is dead, and the future may never come, so we only have the present. nowadays i still struggle to view things in a possitive way, and trusting people, especially other men, is even harder, but im still determined to not give up no matter how awful things get. i know this because im a survivor.

wow... i have goosebumps!! As i am reading the first two chapters, i find my sights a bit off with a film of saline glazing my eyes over, i have gone cold and now have goosebumps... its was a terrifying, hard, raw edged read and totally took me back to my past too. Its just unreal how these things can be inflicted upon completely innocent children... =(
