What we do : The role of a MSYP is to represent the views of other young people, locally and nationally. This means we need your views on what young people want and we will take them to MSYP meetings and if need be to the parliament.

Glasgow Summer Sleepout 2008
Dear Supporter,
Positive Action in Housing is organising its 2nd Annual Sleepout in Glasgow City centre on Thursday 19 June 2008 from 7pm, on George Square .
Many people seeking asylum whose claims are turned down are unable to return home. But they are denied all state support, thrown out of their housing and are not allowed to work. They have no money for food, shelter, and the everyday things we take for granted. This misery is a direct consequence of government policy. Destitution is being used to drive people out of the country – but many thousands simply cannot leave and are now homeless and hungry.
We are encouraging our supporters and members to take part in a sleepout to highlight the plight of hundreds of people refused asylum who are being deliberately made destitute in Glasgow by government policy. This attempt to try to force people to leave this country is not working, and carries a devastating human cost.
The sleepout will be attended by members of the public, destitute asylum seekers, faith leaders, politicians and celebrities, all of whom are disgusted with the destitution policy towards asylum seekers.
If you wish to take part or help us organise the event, please email sleepout@paih.org and we will send you information, or visit www.paih.org where info packs will be available.
If you would like to help raise money for Positive Action in Housing’s hardship fund for destitute asylum seekers, please also let us know and we will arrange to send you information.

Ride ON Event
The Ride ON will be held in Castlemilk Youth Complex on Saturday the 3rd of May.
It is a training event open to all young people in the Cathcart constituency and will involved workshops in drama, photography, audio recording, visual art and video on the themes of inclusion and diversity.
This is your opportunity to express your ideas on local democracy.
Mini buses will be available to collect/drop off. It will run from 10 -3 pm.

Young Womens' Conference
The Scottish Women’s Convention are holding an event for young women aged between 16 – 20 years on Saturday 3 May 2008 at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.
The aim of the event is to discuss the participation of young women within Scottish life.
Issues being discussed on the day will include; Employment; Sexual Health; the Alcohol Intake of young women in Scotland and participation of young women at both local and national level. We will also be discussing the accessibility of services for our young women and it is hoped in order to have a broad discussion we will attract young women from a variety of backgrounds and diversity.
All travel costs will be paid by the SWC and a contribution will be made towards childcare costs if required.

The conference will give every young woman attending the chance to have her voice heard and hopefully influence policy, on issues which have a direct effect on her life.

haha, talk about a neglected page! well guess that's what happens with exams and stuff going on. hope they're going alright! couple of youth forum meetings coming up, this year we're really hoping to make a big impact and really want to get alot more folk involved. meetings are planned for the 3/4th june (tbc) and one on the 17th of june so keep those dates free!

hmmm it is intrigueing (sp?) however my father has banned me from doing anything else extra curricular as he is concerned that i will run out of time (exams an' all) but u know i will have exams next year as well

ok so fair enough litter is a big problem and something should be done about it but wouldn't the council be better spending the man power and money on , I don't know, fighting knife crime or youth gangs around schools??? just a thought....
