      Maaike was born early yesterday morning (at 3:38am) weighing 3.5kg and measuring 52cm tall/long. She is doing well and has very large feet. She sorted out how to drink straight away and now also seems to have sleeping sussed (during the day at least). Jeltsje is also looking surprisingly well given what does not look like a fun experience from a spectator's point of view. Grandmothers Ann and Doetie are both here at the moment seeking cuddles from Maaike as well as doing lots of dishes and other houseworky sorts of tasks. I've posted a few photos and more will follow soon.

      It is late on the 14th and it looks likely that our baby-to-be is going to escape the ignomony of being a Valentine's Day baby.

      Thanks for the update Steve. You've inspired me to think about another Blog update on my Bebo site - for the FEW friends / family members who make the time to look at it!!!!

      Congratulations on the expected addition to your family. I hope the coming days are peaceful and not to burdensome for Jeltsje, and that they bring a healthy baby sooner rather than later!

      You're not waiting on Jeltsje HAND and FOOT? All day and all night? That's how it works, the mother looks after the baby and the father looks after the mother...
      But I don't know who looks after the father. The fairy story ends right after that bit.
