- So you’ve got a teenager? I’m so sorry. Still, they were really cute once, and they’ll grow up to be a credit to you. It’s just these few years in between you have to get through. It’s not so much the lack of conversation, or even the fact that they never open the curtains. It’s the fact that most of the time you haven’t a clue where they’re coming from. They could be an alien species.
Until now. At last, a real live teenager is prepared to communicate (yes, actually communicate) about what makes teenagers tick. Fifteen year old jellyellie dishes the dirt on what she and the many fellow teenagers she interviews really think. Essential reading for all parents, she explains what teenagers think about:
• school
• friends
• money
• designer clothes
• sex & drugs
…and all the other things that feature strongly in teenage life. She tells you what encourages teenagers to co-operate with their parents and what pushes all their rebellious buttons.

just cus im a teenager my life dosent revolve around material things as you seem to be emplying that all teenagers do

Charles114 weeks agoHow ignorant of this Jackman chap - when you bring out a book Jack , let me know!
Oh but wait , obviously you dont have enough time on your hands as you spend all your time "trying" to be smart by ignorantly debating against this book. Just cause your fed up with your own pathetic life does not give you the right to criticize Ellie!
Oh and stop quoting off the net , go and actually buy the book! -

I say good luck to her.
Unquote.
Untrue. You talk of roles and jobs, in as general temrs as the author. I am not light handed when it comes to dismissal, and I think that if a teenager wrote such a book, it would be on a personal level, and not as all teenagers would think.
To smart-guy who asked me where the book I was writing: Should have done your homework, man, mine's a work in progress. -

Bah.. why are so many people commenting complaining that adults don't know what teenagers think and how it's wrong for them to assume that they do, when this book was written by a teenager?!
Also, I've read the entire thing, and she's not just assuming that every teenager does everything mentioned in the book.. but some do all of it, some do bits of it and okay some may do none of it... but it's finally a teenager's opinion out there for adults to access easily (unless they're confident enough to ask their own kids.. and get a full response).
Oh and.. I don't know if you remember me because we didn't really talk but I met you at Jaz's party, Ellie.
Just wanted to say it was a really good book and I agreed with alot of what you were saying.. and then read loads of other people's comments and got annoyed. XD Heh.. anywho.
Bye!

Kirsty Jackson116 weeks agoI think you should all give her a break. Teenagers have been, and will continue to be, a rule unto themselves. Every parent has at some point been a teenager (I'm not being patronising that is just how it goes) but what they thought, is more than likely nothing like what you are thinking (and what is expected from teenagers has changed) - just as Jack Jackman pointed out in a less than respectful manner. The problem is that nowadays people need a quick fix solution to everything, i.e they want to read a book and know how their children work, but they don't like other adults telling them how to raise their children. Therefore a book written by a teenager would be more appealing, and Ellie has filled the gap. I am 19 and can remember exactly how I felt, so I know most teenagers who pick up her book will instantly deny it all but you're teenagers and that's your job.
I say good luck to her. -

So, what, you're going to play 'down with the kids' now? I've been reading seriously since I was eight. -

Hey guys, I'm glad you like the book.
A couple of you have posted asking why there's only one chapter/where the rest of the book is.
How Teenagers Think has been published as a proper book (with pages and everything.... I know, so old fashioned, right?) so if you want to read more than the taster chapter posted here, you'd better get down to your local Waterstone's and grab a copy off the shelf - or for you more technologically minded, just search for "jellyellie" on Amazon.
Let me know what you think of the rest of it - and tell all your friends and their parents about it too! -
Jack Jackman125 weeks agoI think it's ignorant to assume you know what's going on in anyone's mind, especially those of such a large group as teenage people. I have watched countless documentaries claiming to know what children and teenagers, think, and none of it ever came close to how I think or how I used to think as a younger child. It's really insulting, thinking that a person can be summed up in a bunch of words without knowing them. It's common steriotypicalism. I never get into bad moods if I'm denied what I intend to do, and so on... It wouldn't even be as bad if you accepted that not all teenagers can be generalized in such a way.

Pretty Cool I lost interest in the chapter about 3 quarters through but its a good book. I had wanted to read about the emotions chapter instead but whatever, finance is good too.
