- The 'Glasgow Girls' are a group of seven young campaigners who fight against the insensitive treatment of 'failed' asylum seekers.
We began our quest around two years ago when one of our friends and her family were taken away from their home in a dawn raid.
The family was kept in a stark prison-like place for 3 weeks before the Home Office realised they had made a mistake and released them. Agnesa and her brothers will never forget the trauma they went through; seeing their dad being handcuffed by men in bullet proof vests, watching their mother cry and being followed to the toilet for safety reasons.
These people are decent, honest members of the community and have lived her for over 5 years.
We have been to The Scottish Parliament twice in discussions with both Jack McConnell and Alex Salmond. We also do lots of public speaking to well-respected organisations.
However, dawn raids are still continuing and families are still being deported to unsafe countrie - E-MAIL US ON..

Death of failed asylum seeker
Refused asylum seeker Solyman Rashed, 28, was killed by a car bomb in Kirkuk
on Monday 3rd September 2007, after being returned to Iraq two weeks
earlier. This tragic death highlights once again the dangers of forcing
asylum seekers to return to Iraq.
Solyman came to Britain to escape persecution under Saddam Hussein's regime
after his father had been killed by the Kurdish secret police towards the
end of the 1990s. Fearing for his safety he fled Kirkuk and sought asylum in
Britain in 2001.
Solyman was detained in 2006 and spent almost ten months in Dungavel before
being repeatedly moved to a number of Immigration Centres across Britain.
After being moved from Dungavel he spent a further 5 months in detention and
with no hope of being released, we are told that Solyman agreed to return
voluntarily to Iraq because he was so desperate to be free. The idea of
indefinite detention forced him to 'choose' to return to a country ravaged
by war.
Solyman travelled to Baghdad on the 15th August 2007, and travelled on to
Kirkuk, his home town. He lived for only 2 weeks in freedom, before his life
was ended by a road-side bomb.
We are deeply saddened and shocked by the news of his death and see it as a
huge waste of human life.
Solyman's friends and supporters call on the Home Office to follow UNHCR
advice to halt forced removals to Iraq until the security situation has
improved. Forced removals to northern Iraq are due to recommence next week,
after a gap of over 6 months.

They have managed to do it again- The deportations took place over the cover of darkness. They landed in Erbil @ 2 am this morning. Looks like its the same group of people they tried to deport on Monday but failed. Can we do a poll is Iraq or Afghanistan deemd safe by us as civillians ? Nevermind refugees returning after 7 + years out of the country ?
Have had two phone calls, saying Iraqi/Kurds those that were returned from Mondays aborted flight are now being put onto coaches.
No more information than that.
Home Office Press Office have refused to issue a written statement on what happened on Monday, they have said verbally, " A flight that was due to take place on Monday, was cancelled".
Don't you just love 'Open Government" as per John @ NCADC- look like the deportations going ahead today instead, will keep you all posted ......

Forcible Deportation of Iraqi asylum seekers ended in violence
IFIR has been informed by Kurdish asylum seekers yesterday that at 7am, Monday 15 September Home Office commandoes went to the following four detention centres Tinsley House, Dover House, Oakington and Colnbrook removed and handcuffed 60 Iraqi asylum seekers and placed them in five coaches. Their mobile phones were confiscated before they could call solicitors or friends.
The asylum seekers were then transported to Stansted airport, where a German aircraft waited to return them to Erbil in Northern Iraq. However, when one of the asylum seekers punched and smashed a window of the plane, the Commandoes boarded the plane to try to unsuccessfully pin the Iraqi asylum seekers down. Many of the asylum seekers were badly beaten including Fazzel the leader of the Campsfield hunger strikers whose face is badly bruised.. The flight was cancelled and the wounded Iraqi asylum seekers have been taken back to Colnbrook and put in single cells.
IFIR and the Coalition to stop Deportations to Iraq demand an immediate release of all Iraqi asylum seekers, an immediate stop to the policy of forcible deportation, a boycott of Royal Jordanian Airline and all other companies complicit in forcible removals. The government must end this barbarous policy once and for all. The Home Office is willing to play politics with these Iraqi lives, proving only to itself that Iraq is safe by sending people back to a situation everyone else can see to be volatile
The operation this morning has entirely bypassed any usual procedure and represents a new level of contempt for Iraqi asylum seekers we ask all human right and refugee right organisations, MP’s and Trade unions to support our campaign to stop this policy of forcible deportation.
