- Soul Purpose is unapologetically about worship. We offer ourselves to God and God's People. We want to encounter the living God in a life-transforming way every time we play together. We believe there's more. We don't blow our own trumpets (apart from Rebecca!). We're here - and if you think God could use us in your situation give us a shout (send a message to Ross).
Quick history: Ross and Kathryn led the Autumn Soul Band from the event's genesis in 1996. The lineup changed over the years but settled in 2000/1, when we took the name 'Soul Purpose'. Our songlist has always catered for a variety of contexts and ages.
Soul Purpose is:
================
Heather Purdy - vocals
John Rea - bass
Kathryn Harte - keys
Lauren Calvert - violin
Laurence 'Doc' Doherty - drums
Lynsey Stewart - vocals
Melanie Johnston - lead vocals
Rebecca McKibben - trumpet
Ross Harte - lead vocals, acoustic guitar
Ruth Rea - sax
Sheena Harte - flute, whistles
Stephen Johnston - electric guitar

Soul Purpose Songlist
We had a grand old time at Autumn Soul this year, slightly different setting to usual (!), and probably our last ever AS set.
But Soul Purpose continues, we'll lead worship wherever you are if dates can be worked out and you and we feel it's a God thing! Meanwhile, we have a few resources that you might find helpful...
If you'd like to see our worship songlist please leave a comment and we'll get in touch - we can e-mail you a pdf with chords for most of the songs, as well as powerpoint and publisher files for projecting and printing (you just need to report the songs on your church's copyright license).
If you'd prefer 'real' music, a lot of our newer ones are in Spring Harvest 2007-8 and probably will make it into Songs of Fellowship 4. CDs that we like include Matt Redman (Beautiful News), Tim Hughes (Holding nothing back), Chris Tomlin (See the morning), Great Big God 3... Let us know if you're trying to source a particular song.0 Comments 728 days

Thank you
Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who was at CHW and supported us but more importantly worshipped hard. We had a great week and we trust God was blessed.
If we can help you in the coming year, with leading worship in your location or by sharing songlist ideas and resources, please let us know.0 Comments 810 days

Happy Christmas!
I want to wish you a very happy Christmas, and to request two things of you:
1) Will you pray for us please? With babies, a wedding, and the normal things life throws at us, 2007 is going to be busy! We want to follow God's calling as to when to lead worship, but we need to get the balance right. Thanks!
2) Worship through carols. Get past the sentimentalism and the familiar, loved tunes. Ponder the words you're singing and allow the event of God with us to speak to your heart once more. Let's keep Jesus at the centre of Christmas.
Come, Lord Jesus!0 Comments 1048 days

Looking forward to seeing you all at Castlewellan! Missed it last year as I was getting married the week after but am hoping to be there the full week this year. Am booked for it but might have to run off and do an exam or 2 that I deferred in January.

Nicky - sorry for taking so long to reply to your question. The line 'so we raise up holy hands' is, I guess, a combination of a few biblical quotes... There are several instances in the Psalms that mention lifting of hands in praise to God (eg Ps 134:2). And in 1 Timothy 2:8 Paul asks men to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing. I think that in the song you're referring to the writer is reflecting the Psalms usage (i.e. praise) but might have needed an extra word to make the line work so he/she added in 'holy'!
When the Bible talks about clean hands or holy hands or blameless hands I think it's a recognition that pretty much any 'action' sin requires the use of our hands. If we confess our sin, Jesus forgives us and symbolically washes our hands clean - makes them holy. So lifting up holy hands would mean praising God, recognising that God alone has the power to transform us.
Is that any help?
