  • Back from California

Well, I'm back from California, and not at all happy about it. Sigh. This was the first time in ages I managed to just relax and enjoy myself for five entire days without letting the stress of real life intrude upon my fun. :) I actually swam in the ocean and laid out on the beach without worrying what I looked like in a bathing suit. (Thanks in part to my son, Bryan, who threw me fully clothed into the water, because I originally WAS worried about that) I went five whole days without obsessively checking my email. I didn't even THINK about all the edits I have to finish, or the new book that was going so well and has now hit a brick wall. I ignored all the family and financial stresses that have been dragging me down lately and just lived in the moment. It was fantastic, and got me thinking about all I miss out on because I am constantly worrying about everything that is happening, everything that MIGHT happen, everything I've forgotten to do, or just simply don't have time for. Much as I love my kids, my husband, my new writing career, my full time job as a police dispatcher and part time one as an editor, I'm so far over my head I'm never going to dig myself out. There are always ten things I have to juggle or triage and sometimes I wonder if it's worth it. But what do I sacrifice? Where do I make those cuts so that I occasionally get the chance to have some fun and lay on the beach? Sometimes I really want to quit my job and just concentrate on the writing, but I did that once and found that I don't have enough self-discipline. LOL I seem to be the most creative when I'm under pressure, and I find that the constant drama and interaction with the public helps fuel my muse. So I guess I'll just keep doing what I'm doing until my head explodes!

  • THE AMERICAN HEIRESS is now available at The Wild Rose Press!!!

I'm so excited! My new book is now available at The Wild Rose Press! And I just got my first review for it, which was absolutely fabulous! Here is the review!!

    5 HEARTS!!!

This is an incredible book; I had a hard time putting it down! This novel had all the necessary components to make it close to ‘the perfect book!’ There are several sub characters, with two relationships chronicled within the main plot. This book has romance, stolen fiancés, unrequited love, murder (indirectly) and unloving parenthood! What else could the author offer?

Emma Marks, from New York City, has a sinfully rich father; she was in search of a titled gentleman to marry. She lived with Lady Jane Bennett, a 25-year-old spinster whose money disappeared with her father’s death. Now she is forced to work to live—she had agreed to sponsor Emma and help her find the perfect mate! The two women became good friends and shared most of their secrets even though, technically, Lady Jane was to act as chaperone for Emma.

Viscount Sherbourne (Michael Blake) desperately needed a rich wife. The one he was affianced to, Natalia, daughter of the Duke of Clayton, returned the love of Dylan, Michael’s brother, and they had been found compromised. Against the Duke’s, and his father (Earl of Warren) wishes, Michael refused to force Natalia to marry him and allowed his brother to marry his love! That just meant that there was only one available heiress whose dowry was large enough to save him from bankruptcy! And the wedding had to take place quickly or it would be too late.

Sherbourne’s best friend, Lord Lucien Basingstoke, had, years ago, left Jane. Since that time, he had become a rake. With circumstances throwing them together, it was hard for that love not to resurface, but Jane was afraid of his ability to stay. Their on-again/off-again love was a secondary liaison in this amazing book.

Ms. Diana Bold has done a remarkable job of telling this story; there are twists and turns in all three love interests, which enhanced the overall work. The relationship between the parents and their children was a major factor in the book. You will be intrigued and spellbound; all of that, and a surprise ending! Obviously I loved it!
