- It all started back in the summer of 2002 when four very young energetic mates - two brothers Conor & Adam McKee, Conall McKee and Philip Hanna - decided they were going to shake the music scene up.
So they started rehearsing in Conor & Adam's garage only to shake the neighbours roofs off. After their first string of local shows they not only shocked their parents, but also took the house down with their energetic and original performances and launched their young careers.
Their unique "Shockrock" approach easily crosses the generational divide, pleasing the mature punter every bit as much as the bands own peers. This has been obvious in local gigs such as Belfast's Rosetta Bar, Katy Daly's (Distortion Project), Derry's Nerve Centre and the first live internet broadcast showcasing local rock bands from the Front Page in Belfast aswel as broadening their horizons and winning over crowds in some illustrious venues nation wide.
2004 saw the band win an all-ireland battle of the bands aswel as a supporting bands such as Ash and Funeral for a Friend and also being invited to play the prestigious Download festival, Oxegen Festival and Tvital where they shared the bill with legends such as Metallica, Slipknot, Machine Head and Denis the foot tapping welder.
2005 and 2006 proved to be just as good for Acidtone with another frenzied performance at download 2005 followed by constant touring and release of their much acclaimed debut album.
The band have been in writing mode for quite some time now and are eager to unleash their most focused, mature, unrelenting and downright heaviest set of tunes to date.

'Acidtone' aspirations for local youth (DERRY JOURNAL ARTICAL)
By Staff reporter
Conor Donnelly, aged 14, spoke to 'Northern Beats' this week about an inspirational Northern Irish band and young people in Derry who are hoping to 'make it' in the music business.
I have heard many people say in the past that to break into the music business is almost impossible and for many young people here in Northern Ireland that is true.
It is a common dream of young people to ‘make it’ in the music business and there is one group of young people who have done just that.
Often referred to as Northern Ireland’s answer to ‘Rage Against The Machine’, Acidtone gives young people the inspiration to jump into the music business.
In the summer of 2002, four energetic friends decided to form a band. Two brothers, Adam and Conor McKee, their cousin, Conall McKee, and friend, Philip Hanna, decided to get together and form Acidtone.
The band came from small beginnings, shaking the neighbours up in Adam and Conor’s garage, but has since moved on to shaking the music scene up.
In three years the band has created a huge fan base in Northern Ireland and elsewhere and this year saw the release of their first album, the self-titled, ‘Acidtone’.
Now it may not seem shocking for a band to release an album, but when a band releases an album and the members of the band are still doing their GCSEs, it is quite
surprising.
Since the band’s start they have played to thousands at ‘Download Festival’ and have released their first album.
The band recently played in the Nerve Centre in Derry to represent the release of their new, five track EP, ‘MBL.’
Acidtone chose the Nerve Centre as the location for the EP launch as they have always received a warm welcome there.
The gig was excellently received, with one of the largest turnouts of young people in the Nerve Centre for a long time, and the band played many major songs from the previous album such as ‘Scarred’ and ‘Insides End’, as well as songs from the new EP.
Acidtone’s great success and large fan base is an inspiration to me and other young people that breaking the music business is possible, even while studying for GCSEs.
