BEBO LAUNCHES "BEBO ORIGINALS"

October 16, 2008

London, UK - Bebo today announced a commitment to a minimum of six original productions for 2009 under a newly created programme banner "Bebo Originals."

Building on the success of KateModern and Sofia's Diary, the Social Media Network is developing a commissioning and scheduling policy for 2009 that will broaden out from successful dramas to encompass entertainment, reality and comedy.

Joanna Shields says, "It's been just over a year since we brought KateModern to Bebo and demonstrated the full potential of popular short form content broadcast over a social network. Such has been the success of this and our other short form shows that have followed that we are delighted to be in a position to commit to a full multi-genre schedule for 2009."

Under the stewardship of new commissioners Kelly Brett and Kate Burns, scheduling will give all new shows an opportunity to perform on Bebo without competition as well as offering them promotional support across the network.

As a result of these changes, programming will fall in the three main categories:

- Bebo Originals - Bebo's equivalent of a broadcaster's original commission that benefits from the support and promotion of the network and is in step with the proven quality of previous original commissions, 'KateModern,' 'Sofia's Diary,' and 'The Secret World of Sam King.'

- Third Party Productions - programmes produced by third parties exclusively for air on Bebo as well as programmes also broadcast on traditional platforms that have their own versions on Bebo as part of Open Media. An example of a third-party produced show is 'Meet The Freshers' made by Tom Thurlow, airing through December 2008 on Bebo.

- Open Media - Deals struck with conventional broadcasters has allowed for a huge range of programmes from 'Fonejacker' to 'Top Gear' to air on Bebo. Content is provided by both established and emerging media companies to air across the network. Currently there are 500 Open Media partners broadcasting across the network.

Bebo's Kelly Brett says, "We are very excited to be launching Bebo Originals, taking what we learnt from successes such as Sofia's Diary and KateModern, and building them into a constant schedule throughout next year."

Bebo is the world's only global Social Media Network. This radical new vision for online media combines community, self-expression and entertainment to enable its users to consume, create, discover and share content through the Bebo website. Unlike its competitors, Bebo offers access to a line-up of high quality programmes and entertainment from professional broadcasters, independent producers and other rights owners and gives users a simple set of tools to create their online media collection and communicate their tastes to everyone in their network. Recent hit shows include the BAFTA nominated KateModern, Sofia's Diary and GAP Year (co-produced by Endemol, who also produce Big Brother). Founded in 2005 as an online community, Bebo has a membership of more than 45 million individuals worldwide and is geared towards an audience aged under 30, with the core of 16-24 year olds spending 2.14 billion minutes on the site per month.
