BATTLEFRONT GOES LIVE - A NINE MONTH CROSS-PLATFORM CAMPAIGNING PROJECT FROM CHANNEL 4 EDUCATION

September 1, 2008

Social Media Network Bebo to support interactive experience

Raw Television and digital agency Airlock have been collaborating on a new production for Channel 4 Education called Battlefront, launching today - Monday 1st September.

Battlefront is a nine-month interactive project focusing on the endeavours of 20 teens as they do their bit to change the world by campaigning for issues they care deeply about. The diverse mix of campaigns range from fighting knife crime on the streets of London, and calling for zero tolerance to homophobia, to promoting random acts of kindness.

The Battlefront project includes a television series and a comprehensive digital offering comprising a central hub website and a strong presence across the web. The online activity includes a dedicated presence on social media network Bebo. The Bebo presence was designed in collaboration with the social network and will include exclusive video content promoted to their audience.

Battlefront launches with 19 campaigners giving teens the chance to compete to be selected as Battlefront's 20th, and this autumn will launch on TV. In the first of two five-part series for broadcast this December viewers will get a chance to see what some of the group have achieved since starting their campaigns.

The Battlefront campaigners will utilise the power of their social networking skills to grow their campaigns. Viewers will be able to immerse themselves in the projects by sharing in the latest news, blogs and video diaries online, as well as reading top tips and advice from the Battlefront Mentors. The site will also draw in content from across the web, creating a one-stop resource for all things campaigning-related, and then offer users innovative, easy ways to repurpose and redistribute this content themselves.

Battlefront was conceived by Raw Television who look after the overall project development and they are working with Airlock, their digital partner, responsible for implementing the digital offering.

Battlefront can be found online at www.battlefront.co.uk / on Bebo www.bebo.com/battlefront and on Channel 4 in December.
